That’s great to hear! I want to pick this one up in the next few weeks.

Not that it would be a make it/break it scenario for me but is there anything in terms of coop/multiplayer? Even in just the challenge rooms that you mentioned?

I picked up the trilogy pack as a fan of 3 (my first entry in the series). I have completed the first game and I'm about halfway through the 2nd and I am really enjoying them for what they are. The first two games are incredibly linear when compared to the third but I actually feel like it works in their favor. Then the third game is one of my favorite of the "open world crime" games.

As a $60 (usd) package I feel really good about what I got. I think the $40 tag on just the first game is a bit steep. The presentation is on point but they aren't super transparent about the short playtime (6-8 hours for me).

@bladeofcreation: I went back recently to listen to the Bombcasts that came out around the PS4/Xbox One launch and while I wouldn't say they were head over heels for them but they were generally more positive than I expected, especially on the Xbox One.

Granted these were episodes recorded after they had extensive hands-on time with the consoles and I would imagine the tone starts to lighten up once they're able to put these new machines through the proper paces.

@ntm: Seems more like a thread asking for more varied opinions instead of a thread voicing discontent about the opinions themselves.

It doesn’t come off that the OP is bothered or looking for validation in their excitement.

@imunbeatable80: It’s really unfortunate that your takeaway from this “entire thread” is something the OP isn’t advocating for at all. But scrolling through the comments you don’t seem to be alone in that.

@clagnaught: I have caught myself falling victim to the "I'll wait until it comes to gamepass" mentality and it's something that I have to actively be aware of now that nearly all of my media is served to me via subscription format. Because of that I do fall into your example C where, due to the value of the GP sub, I have been much more likely to drop full retail on games that I otherwise would have waited for a sale or to borrow from a friend.

@bladeofcreation: I don’t disagree with your assertion that the average consumer normally doesn’t scoop hardware day one but I think this time around both manufacturers have made moves to rope that market it sooner and no one is touching on that.

I also don’t expect them to provide that opinion with the hopes that one of those consumers might stumble across a 3.5 hour podcast discussing the modern gaming console’s place in mainstream society, I just personally would like a deeper take other than “pc is the best value”. I already know/live that opinion.

@creepingdeath0: I think what they mean by “facts” is that they would like to hear a discussion of how these consoles fit into the market that they’re clearly attempting to carve out for themselves. It’s incredibly easy (especially for an enthusiast site) to dismiss this round of consoles as unnecessary or lackluster as compared to the value of a gaming PC. I personally don’t think they have done a great job (from what I’ve heard on the podcasts) addressing the new consoles from the perspective of your average consumer.

I don’t necessarily believe that they have to provide that perspective, but it would be refreshing to hear as every other site is regurgitating the same speculations and assumptions on a (huge) section of the market that don’t appear to match up with any sort of available/provided data.
