It sounds hyperbolic to say, but no joke, Vinny & Ben might be the best duo this site has ever produced. I think they're both great individually, but they really bring out the best in each other in an amazing way.
Rogue is not a fun game to watch. The fact that they've been able to turn it into such an entertaining series is really something special.
Blaseball? Get that crap outta there. That ain't no game!
In all seriousness, though, Bugsnax is more deserving of a spot on the "This Does Hang Here" list than a barely-interactive fantasy baseball simulator.
Eurydice's good riddance song actually gave me one of Vinny's patented "hey come look at this cool thing" moments when I first heard it.
Absolutely love this song. It's what got me to listen to the Hades OST, and I literally never listen to video game music outside of playing games.
Also, weird degree of outrage in the comments about FF7. I get that people loved the music, but nostalgia factor aside, I didn't find it particularly noteworthy, definitely not enough to hang in the top 3 here.
PS. Having not played Ori or listened to any of its music, holy shit are some of those tracks amazing.
PPS. Music is highly subjective, of course, and thus I'm hesitant to criticize, but Jeff's quick dismissal of anything that isn't a "banger" is pretty off-putting.
Great discussions, guys! Looking forward to the rest of the week.
I know nitpicking is sort of pointless, but it certainly seemed to me that among the arguments for Flight Simulator, very little of it was an argument for it being a Good-Looking Game. Vinny & Alex were clearly very passionate about it, but it really sounded like they were praising the technical accomplishment underlying the game rather than how the game actually looks.
I agree with Alex that it's an accomplishment that should be recognized, but Best-Looking Game doesn't seem like the right place to do that.
