Best of 2012

There is a gap between 1-4 and 5-10 this year. It really came down to either X-COM or Halo4. I went with X-COM because it was such a unique and addicting experience. Far Cry 3 was a late addition that I played mid-December but it was very fun and if the story wasn't so disappointing it would have challenged for #1.The bottom half of this list is kind of rough. Going in I knew that Borderlands 2, Darksiders 2, and FTL would be on the list for sure. It took a bit more digging to get Mass Effect 3, Diablo 3, and Max Payne 3 on the list. With Mass Effect 3 I had to remind myself how much fun that game was to play and how great the story was except for the weird ending. It truly deserves a top 10 spot even though it didn't have as great an impact as Mass Effect 2. Diablo 3 makes the list based on how well made a game it is and how fun it was to play. Also loved the art style. Act 2 has some amazing looking environments. It is so low on the list because I think that Blizzard failed at a lot of the meta elements of the game with the various auction houses and the lack of a real end game at release.
