@himsteveo: Jeff's cat was just named "Cat". It was not short for Catherine or anything like that, he was just seemingly not bothered with naming it, which is a very Jeff-thing to (not) do.
Science unlocks things through starting fresh and approaching the experiment with a clean slate. Therefore I voted "Yes," Coupled with a tentative, "I don't care."
And re: passing down health scares, I take it your wife doesn't have those issues? They may not get them. It's a 50/50 shot brother. Having kids is great man. Honestly, even with the issues you've had, hasn't life been great for you so far? Think how great it will be when you can share the things you love with your kids.
Depending on how the gene expresses itself and its qualities, the risk may even be smaller than that.
OnT: Nobody has ever seriously said they love me, outside of immediate family.
The best e-mails are always the ones that introduce some ludicrous scenario, or ask a stupid opinion from a crew that can then juggle that into a stupid bit. I don't consider it some sort of valuable time investment anyway. Bring some silliness.
