Please use some sealant to secure the desk ^__^

Love your show, Dan.

(Oh, I don't know if you are open to tips for shooting dudes? Though, maybe I remember incorrectly because it's been so long ago. (I vaguely remember on missions where you have to be fast or where the enemy is close/mid-range, I was tilting the camera up a bit more before engaging/shooting, so that the auto-aim would hit their head and not their torso, which saves a lot of ammo and time to kill. I think for long range or when enemies are stuck in a longer animation, I used the aiming reticle.)

(Also Altered Beast is a very short game. So I hope you didn't plan to get a ton of episodes out of it.)

Oh dear... I think Statue and Moon were the toughest levels to beat in this game, IIRC from my childhood.

Ok done ^___^

I did ten different games. One of them was Kingdom Come because even though it has many bugs, has imo a bad closing act, and did not deliver on their Kickstarter promises, I think that it was an important step for games set in older times. It was the first and only game I ever played that was able to give me a sense of what things may have been like. And I would love to see many more games like that, maybe set in different times and places. if there was a 'greatest achievement in games' category I would probably give it to them.

And number one for me was of course Monster Hunter World. I'm a big Monhun fan and I was skeptical about them changing things up until I heard the details and realized how well thought out they all were. I am very happy with that game and played both the PS4 and PC version for over a 100 hours each. Which, given that I played almost 60 games this year is a lot of hours to commit to one game.

@humanity: Yep if we're going to critique the way they handled it (which is a pretty easy position for us to take as an audience) I think Vinny was being considerate. I think they all were. They didn't kill each other or anything and it's a pretty sensitive topic these days.

Hmm. I don't really believe that GOW treats any gender tenderly or with care. (As a fictional game and not an educational tool it shouldn't have to, either.) I'm so happy to hear that Vinny has the clarity to look at more than one side of the game in question, because too often we hear one-sided criticism of media like this. And I totally think that if Abby is frustrated by these things she should speak up about it.

I think that it's interesting how blindsided people can be by focusing on one presumed issue first. Even though 99% of the game was men beating each other to a pulp and Kratos dying while his son cries "oh no daddy no," it seems like we're sooner questioning the treatment of women characters in the game. I believe it's valuable to consider the treatment of the fake people in the game in general before trying to make a case that one grouping of those fake people have been given a worse treatment. In the case of GOW I don't think that women characters are treated worse than other groups of characters in the game.

(And again I don't think they need to be treated equally in one game. We're not talking video's that educate children on how real people functioning in society. But I do understand 100% that if it's always going to be women pulling the short straw it becomes annoying and frustrating once you start noticing that. I have had a similar experience with movies as of late where they keep using the same unlikely setup of characters and it's now starting to frustrate me impacting my enjoyment of those movies severely.)

As far as tropes go I do like variety but I also think that tropes exist (maybe not all?) because they resonate with us. Because they work. Because they do play on our emotions in a cool way. Many places where you can order food have hamburgers or pizza's. Those are food-tropes, and they're not the best types of food you can find, but their recurrence is not necessarily a bad thing. It can be. We don't want to eat the same 3 things every day. And if half the games you played this year are build around the same couple tropes it can be aggravating but I do think we have to remain cautious that we don't end up condemning things because they are tropes. The list of story tropes is quite extensive and you can make some good stories with them as is if it's not exclusively using tropes.

The God of War series' history of blatant and abhorrent misogyny has absolutely not been addressed in the new game. It is a legitimate criticism of the title, and I am glad that Abby stuck to her guns over it; internet crybabies be damned.

Good job calling people who disagree crybabies. It really adds some strength to your argument. Merry Christmas.

Good job finding things to complain about in Smash. :P (I know, it's important to.) It's the first Smash game I am really enjoying, so much so that I might not be able to stop playing.

The thing that strikes me most is that they have most definitely made the game feel smoother. The previous Smash games always made me feel like I was playing a gimped platformer turned into a fighting game. This one doesn't feel that way.

I find it more fun to watch than melee so I wonder if it will be able to conquer a spot at EVO. Especially now that they are figuring things out like the pivot cancel. This is also a game that can be patched. So I want to see how the tierlist is going to change. The tournament they had, had Fox as a winner and it surprised people, and I think that is cool. (I know Fox was great before, but I bet he'll be dethroned next time.)
