My wish for the next AC is they go back to this style of game. Throw all the RPG filler junk in the trash and reboot the series. Set it during the 80 year war in The Netherlands. Big European cities, big crowds with claustrophobic labyrinthine streets and buildings. Big assassination missions and an emphasis on the original prepare>>>assassinate>>>escape style of play of the original AC. The shitty floaty Souls-combat just doesn't work.
@humanity: It's just completely unrecognizable at this point. I've been replaying Unity, and yes that game has a ton of problems, but MAAAAN does that game look and play *beautifully* compared to what I'm seeing in Valhalla. It really feels like they regressed with so many aspects. I'm crossing my fingers for a next gen second reboot (Origins was the first one) that resets everything back to the core AC stuff.
Brad *almost* ruined this with his annoying "marauder shields" and "but you're the Shepard" remarks etc. Just let Alex experience the ending without the constant snarky comments, geez. Why didn't they warn Alex before he jumped in the beam? Whyyy???? This was handled rather poorly. :[
Anyway, congrats to Alex for accidently picking the best ending.
Alex's Mic is WAAAAAAYYYYYY too loud. Like seriosuly.
About Citadel DLC: Also, definitely, definitely do not play Citadel DLC after the end. The game's ending is so definitive that everything after it (especially the Citadel DLC) would be super jarring and weird.
People saying the tone "doesn't" fit with the rest of the game don't get it. The point is that it's the big "lets party like there's no tomorrow" moment. It"s like that GoT episode before The Long Night. People drinking reminiscing etc before the end. Doing it after would just be bizarre. You don't do an after party after the end of the galaxy as we know it.
I don't think I've ever seen someone be as afraid to interact with a games systems as Alex. Why is he so afraid of weight? How has he not equipped (or at least checked out) new armor? How has he not checked out all the companions alternative outfits yet? Why does he never check out new guns? (Equipping the pistol was a major milestone). Why does he always immediately go with the paragon choice, it seems like he barely reads the text. It just feels like he plays on autopilot and doesn't really explore the games systems and narrative paths. He's been playing like this with the first two games as well so I don't expect him to change it up much, but man... Like, he's so afraid to walk in the "wrong" corridor or get lost (how do you even get lost in these *tiny* areas) that he checks the map (I dont think ive ever checked the map in an ME game) before he walks through a doorway.
You're playing a game, not doing a test. Just chill and explore. Use the guns, use your abilities, don't overthink things.
