I'm still incredibly happy with my G923 with shifter and the $120 mount I bought. Sitting in front of a 55" OLED is perfect. Having the wraparound monitors seems like a setup I would want if I was all the way in the iRacing type community but that is a bridge too far for how I like to play driving games.

The wheel has served me very well playing anything from the F1 games, Dirt Rally 2.0 (the implementation of force feedback in that game is stellar), Asseto, and I will be playing GT7 and maybe Grid Legends as well. People in the "community" seem to turn their noses up at the Logi wheels but I really like it.

And you can count on it being well supported in most, if not all, driving games.

I'm especially looking forward to getting back to more stock type cars that Gran Turismo usually has in spades. The 6 gear H shifter and the size of the wheel feels perfect for those types of cars.

I am still beating the drum that live podcasts is a crummy idea. I understand that the Giant Bombcast is one of the biggest draws of this staff and being able to monetize it into their premium structure is important. But holy crap, as soon as they switched to live shows its never been the same. Constantly watching what you say and cancel culture being what it is has to be a nerve-wracking nightmare.

I've paid for premium for a very very long time and I still listen to the regular Bombcast feed with the ads. Mostly because they do different things with them and I find most of them pretty funny. I would LOVE SO MUCH if the podcast wasn't live anymore and they had a little more freedom to speak their minds and be able to edit the show after the fact like the good old days.

A lot of the old YouTube clips and best-ofs of the Bombcast are things that were probably going to be cut out but they ended up doing some sort of bit with it and made some comedy out of it.

I've been following this crowd for many years and I will always blindly give them subscription money because, well, I'm an adult with disposable income and I want them to be able to make more stuff. My main issue with the current content dump is quantity over quality. I love Grubbsnax, the Silent Hill series, and yes, Albummer. I completely forgot any of the other shows existed. When this show was announced I distinctly remember Jeff B being slightly irritated right off the jump because Janina was only producing the show.

If you look at the faces in that apology video it looks to me like Jeff G is pretty irritated. I wonder how much of this was a contract deal and they are currently on the hook for X amount of episodes. I am indifferent of whether it survives or doesn't I just keep picking up subtleties from the staff on that one.

I know a patch will eventually come out. I think the bigger problem is even when it's working (FH4) the support seems lacking. Especially from the same studio that makes Motorsport. I honestly feel the worst for console players. PC users have 3rd party tools like ForzaEMU to trick the game and make the force feedback work well. Even though it means you can't use the wheel in basically any menu unless you use G-Shift on Logi wheels and hold down a button. Giving you a completely different set of macros which you can then bind to keyboard inputs.

Forza Horizon 5 seems like a great game. The environments look fantastic, the cars seem awesome. It runs great on my aging PC at 4K in HDR. For reference I have a I7-8700k with a 1080ti. Not only that, but this game is on Game Pass. I should be stoked beyond belief.

Well... I'm not. I am a racing wheel person. I don't have a crazy cockpit and 3 ultra wide monitors with seat force feedback. But I have a nice, fairly expensive wheel setup. Logitech G923PS with shifter. Here are where the problems lie.

If you have a Logitech wheel you will repeatedly get a controller disconnected error. It will register 1 input from the wheel and then immediately throw an error. I managed to make it around this problem. When the error message is on the screen, if you hold enter on the keyboard and unplug it from the PC, it will "work".

I put that word in quotes because it works in the most general sense possible. None of the options seem to do anything. I have no force feedback, and the center spring is so tight the wheel will rip out of your hands making a slight turn.

Before anyone asks, I have updated both the Logitech software and the wheel firmware. I have even completely uninstalled the wheel, deleted the files from the registry, and reinstalled.... Twice.

I managed to make the wheel feel somewhat playable by using the Logitech software and some of the built in windows settings. I understand I am a minority. The bug list seems to be pretty long for this game on their support page at the time of this post. But...

This game is made by Turn 10. The same studio that makes Forza Motorsport. A game in which the wheel support is substantial. It isn't as good as Codemasters. If you ever buy a wheel and want the best experience you will have out of the box, get Dirt Rally 2.0. Seriously.

Horizon has options in the menus. They will eventually do something I assume. But one of the base things that other developers do is automatically change the shifting behavior based on the vehicle.

For instance with Dirt Rally 2.0: Does the car use paddles? Yes. The clutch and shifter are automatically ignored and you will shift with the paddles. Is it a manual transmission with clutch? Yes. The clutch and shifter are engaged and the car will stall.

This is an arcade racer. I have no problems with the wheel handling being under realistic, I just want the shit to work. I love racing games. Arcade, sim, and everything in between. I've been looking forward to playing another one.

Saying the touch screen is usable just blew my freakin' mind. Also, I just tried it. I don't recommend it over physical input.

@inresurrection: Download speed wasn't my intention for this thread. I was trying to figure out if something had gone wacky with my original installation. 4gb for a patch that just sounds like "bug fixes" seems a little extreme. My reasoning for trying to pause and restart the download was to see if it was a mistake. I've had it happen before with Horizon: Zero Dawn. I ended up having a 6gb patch that I didn't actually need. Something went screwy on the back-end and when I paused and restarted it the download instantly completed. I was checking to see if this was a similar situation or if it was indeed a sizable update for a tiny amount of patch notes.

Just popped in to turn in a few engrams after maintenance. I noticed I have a massive 4.243GB patch downloading. This seems excessive for the small amount of tweaks that are laid out in the patch notes. I tried pausing it and re-launching. All it did was start the download from 0% again.

@opusofthemagnum: This comment was actually about Wyoming. The only thing I know about Huckleberries is we get Huckleberry vodka that is pretty good with lemonade.

@cujoprime: If by shithole you mean not corrupted land, hundreds of miles of do whatever the fuck you want, incredibly low crime, and not polluted air then sure it's a shithole. Although, I love the common misconceptions, we have great internet, cell phone signal just about everywhere, and the snow isn't really that bad most years.
