Donkey Kong Country (SNES) is a great game and I will fight you with my fists if you disagree.

Backlog, Broken Bones, and Big Changes

  • Spending about 95% of my time on doctor stuff right now with my in-training exam only a few days away. Videogames, movies, and any real attempts at exercise have been on the backburner for way too long and I can't wait to get back to them.
  • Healing up nicely from a rib injury I obtained snowboarding at the beginning of the month and a foot injury while playing soccer last week. Realizing I should probably not be quite so aggressive with my sporting. I'm not 20 years old any more.
  • My backlog is excessively and, in a way, pathetically long. I need to stop buying things I don't have time to play. That being said, I've finally given up on the idea of playing through Persona 4 in this lifetime. As such, I'm downloading the entire P4 Endurance Run, which I've completely avoided for fear of spoiling the game for myself. I'm excited, yet wary. Can it possibly live up to the inhuman praise it receives around this site? Only time will tell, but just the fact that Vinny is the frontman gives me faith.
  • Exciting things are happening in my life right now and over the coming months. Getting ready for a vacation to Vail in a couple weeks for some much needed R&R. Big news coming.
  • My pick for the Super Bowl? 49ers
  • Hockey is back. Go Wings!

Wait, you don't have time to finish Persona 4, but have time to watch somebody else finish it? How the hell does that work?

You make a valid point, so let me explain further. Watching the endurance run is easier and less-involved than playing, as I can watch a few minutes a day as I prepare and eat dinner, the only time I'm consistently free. It also means I don't have to worry about keeping track of what I'm trying to accomplish if I leave the game for weeks at a time, which happens far too often when I do play (I work anywhere from 80-100 hours per week with 30 hour calls mixed in and also need to study when I get home). While I hear it is a fantastic game, it has fallen so far back on my gaming "to-do" list that I have finally faced the cold, hard truth: I will never get to it. So, to answer your question, that is how that works.

And how many of those backlog games are due to Steam sales?

@Kazona: Surprisingly few, maybe about 30 or so. Most of my collection is of the 360 variety. Something about the $10 price point is just irresistible to me.

Yeah, the Persona 4 Endurance Run is absolutely amazing... I feel like watching them play it is even better than playing it at times (mostly because of Funky Student) - but at other times, they make some dumb gameplay mistakes - but it's okay because you'll still get a kick out of it.
