@guthwulf: cheers! Any WiiU composite cable works with Wii?

Thanks dazz, I had thot of that, but looking on Amazon Japan the component cables were ridiculously overpriced. Maybe I'll check a recycle shop. Thanks guys!

Hey all, not sure if anyone can help with this or not, but thought there would be no harm in asking. I have an original Wii with composite (Red, Yellow, White) out which I am trying to hook up to my current model LG old (LG OLED55B6P). I live in Japan so both the LG TV and Wii are Japanese models, though I don't think that matters. The LG tv comes with a composite breakout cable which I have tried hooking the Wii up to, but 1) I get no video and 2) I get a loud buzzing through the TV. I can barely hear the Wii background music behind the loud buzzing sound. I have tried the connection in all variations just to make sure there wasn't some color labeling error at the manufacturing plant. Have also tried a $5 composite to HDMI adapter which got the sound through fine, but left me with a pretty subpar picture and a persistent "waving" (some kind of interference or feedback perhaps?) in the picture. The only way I've gotten it to work perfectly is to hook it up through my old Blu-ray/HDD combo and then run that to the TV. Unfortunately, the Blu-ray/HDD is on its last legs, and has a constant GIANT error message on the screen that can't be erased telling me that the HDD has an error and to call the tech number. Any ideas on the cheapest and most effective way to get this Wii working on my tv?? Primarily for my 5 year old son who loves the Wii. Cheers all!

Hey all, I've been playing FFXV and it's pretty fun; kind of surprised about that actually considering how ridiculous the whole boy band aspect of it is. Anyways, just wondering if anyone has any tips on combat in the game? I am in Chapter 8 and I haven't gotten to any parts that I haven't been able to defeat yet, but I have to use potions like a madman. When I go through dungeons I always eventually end up with almost all of my characters having their max HP reduced to the minimum by the midway point or towards the end. I have been bringing about 50 potions with me into dungeons/big battles and easily burn through a majority of them. I pay attention to enemy resistances and I dodge as much as possible. Not sure if this is just par for the course in this game, I'm just bad at combat or I'm missing something. Any tips? Cheers all!

Hey all,

I've got a PSVR headed my way in the next couple weeks and one of the features I'm most excited for is the cinematic mode. I love the idea of having a huge screen to play all my games on/watch movies on. However, I've read that the resolution is pretty terrible. Has anyone actually experienced it? Is it really as bad as everyone says and should I just prepare myself to take it as not worth it?

Cheers!

Wow! Thanks for all the great info everyone! Nice to have a good community who knows what they're talking about. I found a 160gb PS3 (I think it's the "middle gen" one?) for 16000 yen yesterday which is what I think i'll get. Don't need that much space since I'll probably just have a few old games loaded up on it at once and delete 'em as I beat 'em. Cheers!

@rejizzle: I've tried PSNOW multiple times from here in Japan. Since I use the U.S. store, it only lets me connect to the PSNOW service in the States so far as I can tell. The data speeds are super fast here in Japan (usually competing with Korea for the #1 spot); but I think the ping is just too much. Most often it won't even let me load a game and when it does, the little bit of lag kind of ruins the experience (especially on Pac man, lol) Thanks!

Hey all,

First post to the forums as a new user. I had a PS2 way back, skipped the PS3 and am now loving the PS4. I'm pretty interested in getting a PS3 to play a bunch of the games I missed; especially ones that have sequels on the PS4 but have not been ported themselves. I'm wondering if the community could offer me some good game ideas for the PS3. Also, what size of HDD should I get for the PS3 and if anyone has any good tips on how to get one cheaply (don't mind used) that'd be great too! I live in Japan, so shipping something from the States is kind of a deal breaker. Some of the games I'm really interested in playing are:

Mass Effect Series

Red Dead Redemption

God of War 1 & 2 (unless they are available on PS4; haven't checked yet)

Pacman CE DX+

Ni no Kuni - Wrath of the White Witch

Thanks all! Any advice/input is appreciated!
