Top 10 most anticipated games of first half of 2010

These are my 10 most anticipated games of the first half of 2010, chosen from the most information I know about them, meaning that if some big game has little to no information yet, I won't include it. So games like Infamous 2, Gears of War 3, Fable 3 or Halo Reach will be nowhere to be seen on this list. Let's do this then!

List items

  • Street Fighter 2 is my favorite game ever. Street Fighter 4 is one of my favorite games ever, and one of my games of the year for 2009. Super SF4 adds 10 (!) characters, new ultras, new moves, new stages, new modes... and people bitch this isn't a DLC add on? If there is ONE game that I wish I could have in my hands now, its Super Street Fighter 4.

  • Man this came out of nowhere. This game looks freaking AWESOME to me, and unless its one of the biggest deceptions ever from watching videos to actually playing, this will be probably in my 2010 GOTY list. A cross of Zelda style adventure and dungeons with god of war style slash-em-up action, with tons of different powers and abilities, different weapons, Epona...I mean Ruin, the warhorse that you can ride and attack from, and a 20 hour long campaign? DAMN SON! Add to that beautiful graphics (i love joe madurera's art, and the cartoony art design in this game looks awesome) and what seems to be great voice acting (mark hammil is in it!) and you have what would be my most anticipated game in months if it wasn't for my love for all things Street Fighter. But hey, its number 2, and it's out in the first week of 2010. Please be as good as you look Darksiders, PLEASE!

  • Having not actually ever played Indigo Prophecies (or Fahrenheit as it's know here in Europe), I still grow more and more curious about Heavy Rain. It looks absolutely stunning, the premise is great (gotta love serial killer stuff), and the gameplay looks really different and interesting, and thats a huge plus in my book. Very excited about this game, hopefully it lives up to the hype.

  • The first Mass Effect, despite many problems, was still one of the best Western RPGs I've ever played, and the sequel looks improved in every way. I hate to say it, but it seems that Bioware can do no wrong lately (Dragon Age was amazing). and from the latest videos (and there are many!) it seems that Mass Effect 2 will blow the first one out of the water. the combat looks 10 times bettet, as do the graphics, and the overall feel of the game feels darker... I have a feeling this will easily be one of the best games of 2010

  • Loved the first god Of War game, finished it in 2 sittings. Loved the second game, but never actually finished it... and from the demo, the third game continues it's violence tradition of great graphics, awesome set pieces, simple but fun gameplay, and just a ton of blood and gore. Hopefully God Of War 3 will have more of the amazing set pieces the series has gotten us used to. Can't wait to play Kratos one more time in 2010!

  • Sequel to my 2007 GOTY and one of my favorite games ever, Bioshock 2 unfortunately runs the risk of disapointing, the standards of the first game are just set too high. Still, I have hopes that it will be as good, and the latest media seems to show that it's on the right track... the vibe is deffnately still there, and the thought of playing a Big Daddy is just badass. Even the fact that Ken Levine has nothing to do with it doesn't worry me as much as it did at first.

  • Even if I've grown a bit bored of JRPGs in the last few years, leaning towards western style rpgs, I have to be honest... it's Final Fantasy! Unless you totally hate JRPGs, you have to be excited about another proper Final Fantasy (the mmos don't count for me), and even if Square's games aren't what they used to be, I'm still excited as hell for this. And hey, Transformer summons = win :D

  • Will we actually finally see Alan Wake in a store shelf for purchase in 2010? It certainly seems so, after many years of waiting with little info, we finally saw the game in motion and it looks beautiful, if a bit too Alone In the Dark-y. Still, as long as its more psychological than jump-scary (as it was initially suggested) Alan Wake should hopefully live up to its years and years of hype... it probably won't, but I hope that at least its just a great game.

  • Like Alan Wake, seems this game was doomed to never actually come out, but after many revisions, the latest and seemingly final iteration of Conviction seems to be the best yet. Although we have seen that Sam will probably go back to using his high tech stuff at some point in the game, its the Sam using broken glass to peak under doors and no tech weapons or gadgets that makes me interested in this game. The visual style is also of note, it looks beautiful, and the use of projected videos while you play seems really cool. Oh and did I mention Sam apparently likes to torture people in bathrooms? First half of 2010 seems to be one of the best ever!

  • Last but not least, a sequel to a game that many people didn't like, but I personally loved every minute of, Lost Planet. The first game still looks amazing even today (those explosions and huge monsters are unforgetable), and the sequel seems to fall in the "bigger and better...and then even bigger" category. Stunning graphics, 4 player co-op, crazy third person shooting action against gigantic bosses, rideable mechs... if the full game is as good as the demo (and has a story to back it up!) this will be one of my favorite games of 2010. Man I love Capcom...
