I'd rather pay to play a beta then ever pay for an indie game.

really, you'd never even consider buying an indie game? Not even like Limbo, Braid, Castle Crashers? I don't wanna go crazy with examples but with a collection like that i'm betting you've played (and paid for) several indie games without even knowing they were indie then.

Unless they plan on making origin a prereqesit to install their new games, I will never install it on my computer.

And even if they do I might think twice about getting that particular title. I just hope SW: TOR doesn't require it.

SWTOR will definitely use Origin

Wrong. They've already stated that the game doesn't require Origin at all.

Last I heard they said it did...

Quote from Stephen Reid

Regardless of what other games may choose to do in their integration with Origin's desktop client, here's what our situation is:

You are not required to use the Origin desktop client to download, patch or play the game client for
Star Wars: The Old Republic. This applies whether you purchase The Old Republic via Origin.com or from a retailer in boxed form. You will not be forced to install the Origin desktop client. There are still various consumer benefits to the client itself, but it's not required for The Old Republic.

AH! Sweet, I didn't know that, I'll prob still get it in case there's a good sale, but this is still good news :)

same, thanks for that piece of info @ribeye =)

hey no problem! except i was wrong, @CL60 is the one that got it right =D

Well it's a start. Still will only use Origin if I really really really REALLY have to in order to play BF3 and ME3.

From my understanding it doesn't matter if you're actually playing a game that uses Origin or not, it installs a service that runs on your PC at all times that does the data mining shady business. Fortunately services can be disabled =)

the DRM didn't bother me, i just want them to fix the fuckin' retarded controls, seriously

Exactly how I feel. I hadn't heard anything about the DRM until after I had started playing. Honestly it didn't affect my experience at all, but the controls did.

I really don't see the problem people have with the controls...it's not a cursor, so it shouldn't move like one.

I haven't played the game, so I don't know what it behaves like on the PC, but... That totally is a cursor. It's a cursor in the same way that the hand in Black & White was a cursor. An entity that moves around in the 3D world and interacts with things as it does, yes; But still a cursor.

No, it's not. It's your character. You are the "breath", it's not the thing you point at stuff to do things with, it's you. There is a rather large difference in this and how it is presented from a gameplay perspective.

Maybe I just don't understand the controls quite yet then, I've only fired it up once so far, but I was fighting the mouse controls from the second i fired it up until the second i shut it off. I'd like to shut off the mouse camera movement altogether actually. I was moving the camera around with WASD (like any good PC gamer would) but if the mouse is anywhere other than the center of the screen, it drifts in that direction, I found it completely annoying.

I do have a 360 controller for Windows and I could use that, but wtf, I could've just got it for 360 if I'd known that. I got it on PC because I have a spiffy new video card and I want to flex it, but later found out it's locked at 30fps (for no good reason apparently) and the controls are actually worse. I'm not gonna cash it back in just yet tho, I'm still trying to like this game and I want to give it another chance because I think it looks cool and I'd like to finish it. We'll see what the patch does I guess

Wow completely forgot about this, glad they have took there time.

Also the voice actress being called in seems odd, I'm pretty sure i remember reading the new stuff won't have a story, could be wrong though.

She's also the overwatch lady you hear coming over the Combine loudspeakers in HL2 and the announcer in TF2 so who knows

EA has to give in to Steam in the end, people don't want to go to their Origin platform no matter how good or bad it is.

Steam's where it's at.

I just got in a few days ago, been pretty much solo so far because I don't know anyone. Anyone wanna try and coordinate?

I can be in-game pretty much any night at 9pm central (GMT-600) and usually will play until at least midnight

Anyone else just get in?
