Food for thought on Reviews

The reviews for games need to be overhauled throughout the industry.

For instance, I played through Fallout 3 on PS3 but am seriously considering replaying it on PC simply because the mods turn it into a brand new game, once you have HiRes texture packs, new effects, new lighting, new ai, new missions, new weapons and new creatures, isn't that basically a sequel?

Should Team fortress really be judged by the reviews it got at release? There has been so much content added that the first release version is basically a beta.

The same thing seems to be true of many many other games, and yet game review scores don't seem to be updated as the game is updated. Is it just too hard to keep track of unofficial patches and mod enhancements? Or are we all just too obsessed with the newest game on the shelves to worry about something being polished in the background?

Many games have been improved drastically over the course of there lifespan but are never re-reviewed and re-scored....thats todays thoughtfood.
