Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (2018) has an odd charm to it thanks to the exceedingly unintelligible Captain Toad himself. 👍

Question About Best Buy Warranties

UPDATE: Problem solved

I don't roam very many forums, actually the only forums I usually visit are of this site's or of screened's, thus why I'm asking this question here:

For those of you who have purchased an extended warranty for a console or handheld device from a huge electronics retailer, Best Buy in my case, under what conditions will you be able to replace that system?

I dropped my DS Lite a few months after purchasing it and since then the calibration function in the root menu no longer "ends," it just keeps asking me to touch the same three points over and over and over until I eventually give up trying and shut it off. I've gotten used to it by now, especially with the amount of time I spend playing Picross 3D on it, but when I'm typing in my name or some silly message, I have to touch the letter next to the one I want to type in (ex: having to touch the letter b to input a).

When I purchased it in March/April of this year, the salesman said I could replace it even if I've dropped it or anything just as stupid, like water damage (which happened to my last DS Lite, I've salvaged it for parts since then).  When I came back a few weeks after damaging it (my warranty is up to 1 to 2 years, I believe, plenty time to take advantage of it) to ask an associate of his, he said that if I was the one who caused the damage they couldn't do anything about it.

I don't want to go up to customer service and complain about their salesman basically lying to me to get the extra $50, but should anyone here have any answers or any "ins" of what can be done, please leave me a message.
