The game sounds like it is divisive (shocking I know). But Dan sounds fucking nuts considering MGS is very rarely "fun". It is clever at times and unique and interesting with some gameplay moments, but overall gameplay moments are kind of varying between weird, cinematic and, in older cases, just bad. This sounds like it is just an expansion of that, to me.
This is just that Dan can't stretch beyond "army guy does stuff that is cool" which is what it sounds like.
Full disclosure, I have ZERO interest in this game, but OF COURSE Dan hates it. For all of his love of Kojima and MGS it feels like it is all nostalgia and not rooted in any kind of valid criticism.
I think the complete opposite. The fact that Dan's opinion of the game is not influenced by his reverence for MGS/Kojima is actually refreshing to me.
And I think a few people here are also missing the overall point that Dan was making - he didn't enjoy playing the game. He really enjoyed playing the MGS games. In your opinion the gameplay is very rarely fun in MGS, Dan did not think that. He did not enjoy the gameplay in Death Stranding, which seems pretty different to MGS.

Fire him? Jesus you people go from 0 to 100 quick. I actually think he is intelligent and has some good takes on the industry. And I like him on the Aftermath podcast with Jeff. I just personally think more variety is needed when it comes to QL's and guests on UPF. I know Jeff was out for a while but it felt like the website was Giantben.com not Giantbomb.com
It's a perfectly valid question. Your initial comment was how the show was improved without someone. So the question was posited to you as to whether you wanted that to be permanent. It's not a tremendous logic leap.
I normally support Abby and think she does a great job. This quicklook however was pretty rough. Stop complaining about being there and just participate. It was pretty frustrating to have to keep hearing comments about ending the match and how long the quick look will be.
If my employees complained like that, they'd be written up. You are at work, deal with it, do the work. Jesus. We have a fun and exciting environment similar to you guys, why do you need to complain all the time?
This is a pretty yikes comment dude. Abby, Alex and Mahardy all made comments to keep the quick look moving on; because they were concerned about interesting video content. Dan and Jeff came at it from the view of showing really how bad it is; which once was explained was fine. It's two different approaches - one is entertainment based, one is information based and since this is a live show but also a quick look, both views had merit. Nothing outrageous happened here at all, yet once again, the narrative is that one of the staff members is terrible and awful and smelly.
I'm not even going to touch how ridiculously condescending and arrogant the second paragraph is.
