@Bruce: yeah its oddly catchy but i dont see it standing a chance with the mainstream like Time to Pretend or Kids did. A radio edit of Siberian Breaks would stand the best chance of a mainstream hit aside from the obvious Flash Delirium.
ah well dirty projectors put more emphasis on their vocal style than any of the instrumentation. if i were to compare their experimentation with someone it would probably be Flaming Lips. For some reason i have VanWyngarden pegged as a young Coyne : \
(people have told me im crazy, but i guarantee you one day he will be on stage in a grey suit with matching curly hair, belting out a harmony)
" @TurboMan: Brian Eno is right up there with anything from the first album. "
i take issue with this, brian eno, although oddly catchy, is poorly written. they jump between keys too frequently and dont do enough to contrast the heavy brass/woodwind instruments in the background through the verse. seriously though, if your going to write a tribute song to eno, make it the most theoretically competent piece of music you can pump out.
i also disagree with placing siberian breaks as the weak point in this album. its the standout to me along with someones missing
