Best Games of 2007
The biggest rival to 1998 as the best year in early video game history. Not only was there an all-time classic in Portal, but you had the thought-provoking and setting of BioShock, the incredible missions and multiplayer of Modern Warfare, a stellar revival of platformers in Super Mario Galaxy, and incredible sequels in Halo 3 and God of War 2. Not only that but gamers saw strong initial entries in new franchises, Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed, as well as cult classic originals in The Witcher and World in Conflict. The Professor Layton series hit its strongest stride with the "real" 21st century revival to the adventure game genre. And the best sports franchise since the football-dominated mid-2000's finally became fully featured as MLB The Show brought in pitch confidence/prioritization, assistive AI-pitch calling from your "catcher" and a fully realized "Road to the Show" mode to bring an individual player from the minor leagues into the greatest of all-time.
