So the performance patch for the PC version just came out. Some people are seeing massive improvements, but it's barely helped me at all. It increased my frame rate in the Royal Observatory from 20 FPS to 25 FPS on low settings. I don't think I'll be able to finish the game at this point, which is super disappointing because Dishonored is one of my favorite games. This is the first AAA game that's been too much for my modest PC since I built it a year ago.

Out of curiosity, what specs are you running?

As to the patch: it made things a lot more stable for me and am able to run a mostly consistent 60 fps with most settings on very high (running 1080p on a GTX1070). I also like the new TXAA sharpness options.

Isn't it weird that this game didn't get a Quick Look (I know there's an unfinished, but still)?

For those that have tried, who is it better in terms of their Stealth/nokill options, Corvo or Emily?

From the first couple of missions it feels like the placement of objects and routines are built around Emily's ability set. Moving around as Corvo feels really... blunt or stilted to me; not sure what the right description is. So from a no-kill perspective, getting around more fluently feels more comfortable to me giving me a better sense of security. Additionally, Emily has more abilities that revolve around distraction (for example Doppelganger) and stealth (Shadow Walk) so that might be up your ally. Interestingly, her Domino ability (which ties the fates of targeted NPCs together) allows you to put all of them to sleep by just choking out one of them. Invest heavily into Far Reach; it becomes exponentially useful when you do.

Inquisition ranged from mediocre at best, to trash at worst.

Okay

@rvone: not for when it came out... very dated in the design department... also the weakest story of the three... so missed the mark on gameplay and weak story... not what you want in an RPG

I agree the story was the weakest out of the three, but your other statements I don't agree with.

I'm not at home now and only really played 15 minutes last night before the UI, mouse acceleration, and depth of field made me quit. I didn't bother looking since I wanted to check out the game, but can that depth of field be disabled in the launcher?

It's... not good. It's real wonky. I turn that stuff off in ENBs and it works a lot better there.

I haven't messed with it but there is a slider for depth of field in the in-game options menu.

Is there a way for me to bin the civic perks I have no interest in? Reading the perks is giving me a headache as I try to spot ones I want.

Absolutely a necessary addition, indeed. Some of the policy cards are applicable only to ancient and classical era features but they are still in the rapidly increasing stack for the rest of the game. It would be great if we could individually hide specific cards.

@mirado: Yeah, the main theme is amazing. The variant of the theme that plays during the opening movie is also pretty legit:

And for those who can't get enough of the main theme, here's a pretty good live version with Tin himself as the conductor:

I'm really happy that Firaxis commissioned him for the music. It really puts the game in a league of its own.
