2015's Best of 2013

Hey, I didn't make my yearly list last year. Partly because I forgot, partly because I packed away my desktop PC, Xbox and PS3 halfway through the year, and thus did not play much other than World of Tanks for the rest. This reflects on my list!

Honorable mentions: Company of Heroes 2, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, BioShock Infinite, State of Decay and Last of Us.

Edit: I forgot 3D World! Heresy. List is changed for that, but I will keep the original games, therefore 11 games for this years list.

List items

  • I started playing this in June, on the recommendation of my brother, who had played it for a few months. Fortunately this also ran on my work laptop, so I had something to play when the rest of my gaming gear was packed away.

I still play today, though not as often since I got my desktop back.

  • Man. Maaan. Tomb Raider was awesome. I had never previously played a TR game, other than a demo, so I went in fresh. It was perfectly paced, and the collectibles had just the balance of time commitment vs reward. Really look forward to the sequel.

  • It was not finished when me and my bud played it, but we played it non stop until we had seen everything that was to be seen at the time. Maybe we will go back to it, now that it is a more finished product. Loved the character progression-system.

  • The first of two Zelda-games on my list this year, this one was a treat. Great fit for a handheld, and a good story for a Zelda-geek like me. I cried when it was over. Maybe not.

  • A game only Nintendo could create. Ranging from easy enough for a 4-year-old, to hard enough that I still have not beat it. Hours of fun.

  • Bought it of my buddy, who did not like it. I played it for hours, creating Excel sheets to keep track of every pokemon I caught, and not progressing from an area before I had caught every possible monster. Great game.

  • Lots of playtime with my daughter, mainly Cars playset. The kind of game where you just keep on playing, wanting to get just a little bit more sparks (XP) before you quit.

  • A wonderful little game I unfortunately played way to little. Have to go back to this one.

  • Hard to argue against 161 hours of playtime. Some of it idle, but still.

  • I had never played a tactical RPG before, so this was a nice surprise. I don't play it properly, though, since I can't stand loosing characters. Not because I'm sentimental, but because I hate missing out on possible story-elements those characters could be a part of.

That means lots of saving and loading. Still, a fun experience.
