Best games of 2017

Aaah, the Switch. Reigniting my love of console gaming. I haven't made the list yet, but I would bet it's dominated by Nintendo.

List items

  • I did not have to look at any release list to know which game was on top for this year. BotW was an experience. I loved the graphics, the gameplay, the setting, the WORLD. The only downside was the dungeons, if you could call them that. Hopefully, that is an area they will improve in the sequel.

I wish I could play that game for the first time again.

  • This was a fun surprise! I loved the E3 conference where they presented it, when the producer cried when talking about making a game with his hero, Shigeru Miyamoto. It merged three things into a spectacular game; the Mario license, the crazy Rabbids, and the Xcom gameplay that I love. And somehow it worked! I hope we get a sequel someday.

  • Took the original game and made it better in every way. Good humor, fun gameplay and great characters.

  • A great game, even a great Mario game. I just wish it had more worlds. A few DLC packs with more worlds would have been perfect.

  • The classic games hold no nostalgia for me. Never played them. This game, though, is awesome. I guess it came out in 2016, but I bought it on a sale. It's a game that never outstays its welcome, it knows exactly how much is enough.

  • This is, of course, the deluxe version for Nintendo Switch. Still play it to this day.

  • I had never played any of the Steamworld games, so I was curious when I downloaded this. A fun experience.

  • Another coop game, where my progress was hindered by my brothers having more free time. When I joined them I just followed around shooting at things. That was fun, of course. And don't believe them if they say I'm terrible at flying helicopters! I always got them where they needed to be, no one said anything about the helicopter needing to be in one piece.

  • Oh man. Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3 are some of my favorite games of all time. This was a massive disappointment. Still, it was a good game. But it didn't grab me enough to finish it.

  • I never played the original, but I picked it up to play coop with my brothers. A few hours of fun, but I'm not into the competitive side of it, so when the story was over, I was done.
