For me, it's going to come down to how varied the missions are and how the story is. I think most of us got swept up by this game's reveal back in 2012 and were maybe a little fooled into thinking it was more than just another modern-day open world game with a neat gimmick. I can't see it being anything more than that, but if it keeps things fresh and interesting, I don't see that not being an enjoyable 12-20 hours.

I'm just going to mention The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in here. I know it was a game you had access to on PS3, but considering that version had significant issues, plus the impact the mod community has had on the PC version of the game, transforming it into a far better game than it ever was before, earns it a mention here.

That said, I'd also recommend this mishmash, hodgepodge of games:

I'd also give Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare a look once it comes to PC in June. I've been having a blast playing it, and it's shown itself to have a surprising amount of depth despite its cartoony, family-friend aesthetic.

Oh man, this thread harkens back to one of the oldest topics on this board. Love it. We need more "is this food another food" debates around here!

Seems pretty smart. I noticed a pretty small number of assets (only so many types of hair, eyelashes, et cetera), so opening the character creation tools up to having a bajillion sliders seems like a good way to offer variety without having to generate a ton of assets.

This is an incredibly, incredibly clever idea. I see myself using this a lot in the future. Fantastic job, OP.

It solves two problems that games face in regards to storytelling. They let you tell stories that don't warrant the high cost of cutscenes, but they also don't take away control from the player. I'm just as tired of them as anyone else, but I completely understand why they're so prevalent.

Well this is nuts. Adam seemed really well embedded over at Rev3; that seemed like a long-term gig for him.
