Best of 2011
I wasn't around for a good chunk of 2011, but based on the games that I did play and the ones I've played after the fact, I'll make this list.

Valve just needs to stop teasing us and give us the Half-Life/Portal crossover already.
A fantastic showing from Visceral Games. If the rumors are true and the team in Redwood Shores is the one making Hardline, Dead Space 2 alone gives me confidence for that game having a strong single player.
One of the only games I've played with a silent protagonist that gives legitimate reason for him being silent. Alcatraz is a very compelling and sympathetic character; more so than any other character is this entire franchise. Crysis 2's ending made Crysis 3 one of my most anticipated games of the generation. I'll just say that I was disappointed .
A wacky, fun romp, full of laughs and incredibly stupid setpieces that, as someone who has never been able to make it through a GTA game, was very refreshing.
The characters and world building were solid enough that all of the issues with Dragon Age 2 didn't stop me from sinking dozens of hours into it.
Rocksteady knows how to make a good Batman game.
Didn't make it through the single player, but that multiplayer is pretty good.
I want Adam Jensen cyborg parts.
I'll probably never finish it, but whenever I don't play it I can hear it calling me, almost as if to challenge me.
I'm genuinely sad we'll never see a sequel.
