Any time Drew can he should be on it's great to have a new voice on the cast. As busy as he probably is he might not be able to be on as often as we'd like though, Matt would also be cool to have on the bombcast.
Can anyone remember on what Bombcast they mention Q-Zar and laser tag, I'm trying to find the specific episode and google and search function aren't helping. Maybe someone here can help me out or has a better memory then me, thanks for any help in advance.
While Nintendo will be fine as a whole, they have so much cash in reserve its ridiculous and the 3DS continues to sell well. Hopefully they make a price cut and that Mario Kart factor will kick in 2014 and start boosting the sales. They should be pushing the virtual console also they seem to be slow to updating it. While it will not be a 70 million seller it could still sell 20-30 mill if sales pick up.
First off great article Patrick, the vitriol comments you've received were unjustified and I'm glad you took them in stride. Unfortunately as you well know the internet is both full of kind and deplorable people. Why people have to be so vile towards each other is something beyond me. Even though I may not always see eye to eye on your opinion I still look forward to hearing them. Keep up the good work.
Now to the article at hand.
Your right its not mutually exclusive but indies do need the media to an extent. When there walking out on stage at press conferences and headlining the indie game industry there should be a form of mutual respect and communication between the press and the developer. That being said I like Marcus and after watching the episode before this broke out I didn't pay much mind to it. Phil and Blow while not deserving of all the hate they've received do act like snobs from time to time. Marcus should have reeled it in, but before that the editors at GT should have known better and weighed the consequences of this. Really though I don't think Marcus nor anyone at GT saw this blowing up like it did. I've been watching Marcus for a while on IW among other things and yes he is very opinionated but he's also been one to apologize if he's gone over board. The guy may call him self an ass but from what I've seen he's far from it, promoting charities, the piece he made about Ryan among the other things he's discussed on his various appearances.
Fish could have just shrugged it off as Blow did instead he chose to fight fire with fire. I don't really feel sorry for Fish, his track record for working with others and his vitriol towards parts of the industry and some gamers in general speaks for itself. While I do agree with Marcus view point on this they both were still in the wrong, hopefully in the future he will be more mindful of his rants and the outcome they may have.
Phil Fish reminds me John Kricfalusi in more ways then one. Both have outdone themselves by pushing away others and being a bit full of themselves.
