Has anyone tried Terraria yet? It might not be Minecraft, but it's all about mining and crafting.
I'd say this is pretty misleading.Terraria is more of a action-packed 2D adventure game with some rpg elements where you happen to be mining and crafting to get your basic items.
Yeah i agree, i havent technically played but seen alot of videos and its less about the building and more about the items you gain via the mining
Whaaaat? You dig, get resources, build things, craft things, all the while killing the monsters that get in your way. If this is an RPG then so is Minecraft.. because I just simultaneously described Minecraft as I described Terraria :P The only difference is it's 2D and there are NPCs that will come hang out in the places you build.
Now that it's out and I've played it, I can say I'd totally be up for this if someone wants to make an official server. Also it seems like items stay with you in this between single player and multiplayer, so until we have a server, we can play without feeling like we're wasting time!
For anyone who might not know, Greyhollow is the new city under construction near Arcania. You can reach it by riding the train from Alsatia until you see the Dude and/or the Cammy/Chun-Li sprites, or by riding the train from Arcania to the Greyhollow stop. It is a Dwarven-themed city that is currently being carved out of the nearby hills and mountains. It is built in an extremely harsh environment where the elements converge to create extreme weather conditions above ground, and massive, resource-rich caves below ground. Largely, the city is being built below ground, but anyone is welcome to build anything within the theme in the largely undeveloped above ground, or the rapidly developing areas below ground.
In the heart of the mountain, the Great Hall of Greyhollow has been carved out. This is the main building area in the below ground areas of Greyhollow. Feel free to build whatever you like here, but try to build into the walls instead of out of them.

The Shaperate
Off the Great Hall is the Greyhollow Shaperate. Here is where you can raise your voice and be heard by the kingdom. It is thought that the words spoken here echo throughout the entire mountain.

The Mines
No good Dwarven-themed city would be complete without a mine! Greyhollow and Arcania share a massive mine, complete with literally hundreds of rich inter-connected cave systems which are being developed into livable areas as they are carved out.
@FunExplosions: If mrv's idea works, I think it would be tons of fun! I used to play a game called Meridian59, and every other week or so, the server would save, skies would turn red and everyone would be flagged for PvP and just go crazy fighting each other for a few hours. It's some of the most fun I ever remember having in an MMO and you just don't see that kind of thing anymore.
So, I had a pretty cool idea! And with the server being down, it's probably a good time to talk about it here.
Since some people have been hungry to have monsters on and for a little PvP-style fun, yet other people are afraid of their structures getting hurt and losing items and the like..
Why not do a save on the server, and for one set period of time, turn monsters on, go completely insane, cause as much destruction and death as possible, and then roll back the server like none of it ever happened? 'Cause I dunno about everyone else, but sometimes I just want to pour buckets of lava on entire cities!
