TL;DR - just buy a fucking PC.

Definitely the way to go if you don't ever want to deal with technical issues, you're right.

Nay.

Vita is a fabulous system. I'm still playing Soul Sacrifice and Dragons Crown, with a bunch of PSP downloads waiting. Killzone and Tearaway are more than I think I'll get to. I don't have a PS4 yet, but when I do, it's gonna be heaven gaming on that thing from bed. I'm positive we will see more and more functionality with Wi-Fi connections at a distance. The Vita is a well built, great looking and playing device, in addition to being the ultimate PS4 accessory. The one gripe I have is the cost of memory cards. Other than that, it's a dime.

Worst console I've played first hand was the Tiger Street Fighter handheld. God damn nightmare.

This remains the single biggest reason for me wanting a PS4. It's one of the few things in tech the last few years that seems like straight up magic

Both platforms have huge limitations and closed ecosystems. From a consumer review standpoint, that should drastically lower the score. People are essentially buying into needlessly closed systems that offer little functionality outside of games. Even the Xbox with it's living room aspirations, isn't really an open platform.

So the question becomes: Is the price and experience of using these to play games, easy and smooth enough to be worth the tradeoff? It sounds like, for both, it is.

For me? I didn't like Microsofts starting plan. I didn't like Kinect, and I don't think it's worth $100 from my wallet. I do own a Vita, and I'm excited about pairing that with a PS4. Case closed. But none of that could really add up in a numbered score of any consequence.

A woman spilled coffee on herself and got burned and sued McDonald's...

Perhaps not the point of this thread but.... that woman was actually completely justified in suing McDonald's. They kept their coffee at an absolutely unreasonable, unnecessary temperature, and it directly led to that woman receiving third degree burns to her legs and pelvis. Coffee does not need to be hot enough to give someone third degree burns in seconds. It's actually a pretty textbook case when explaining how civil negligence suits work. I'm taking time to explain it simply because it's such a common misunderstanding of the case.

That case is not a good instance of someone not taking reasonable responsibility, it's used more to highlight activist sentencing whose scope is far greater than the wrongdoing (as in, the judge awarded her an incredible amount of money), contributing to a noticeable creeping up of awards and overall expense and impact of litigious procedures.

But there it is right there; there is a reasonable amount of responsibility one should be expected to have for one's self, and when a situation crosses it, it's actually victimization. As opposed to what my fellow millennials appear to believe; that there is no personal responsibility, and everything victimizes everyone.

I was going to respond with this, and you did the job for me. Well said, and this is a story that still gets brought up a lot by people needing to confirm a bias. The coffee keeps flavor longer when hotter, and McDonalds kept it that way to squeeze money into the equation. The burns are horrific if you see photos, and she required skin grafts and still lives with pain. The money awarded wasn't to just award her like she won the lotto. It is one of the few ways the judicial system has to influence business behavior without jail. Large awards/punishments have very little to do with prices for other consumers going forward, but a lot to do with curbing harmful or unfair practices.

Damn you guys are on the pulse. Question answered, well played

And yes, that seems like a pretty horrible way to spend 40 million dollars.

So I checked out Polygons PS4 review, and I can't help but wonder how the hell they have the budget to make an indie film and web 3.0 app for a single review.

I get a sense of Giantbomb, Gamespot, IGN, etc. It all makes sense. Polygon remains this bizarre outlier where I can't reconcile the production values with an almost invisible revenue stream. Who the hell is paying for this content?

It's always funny what games get backlash and which don't.

The entire gaming world went weak kneed with The Walking Dead and nobody ever thought twice about it. A game that essentially just lies to the player about choice, and characters "remembering" things. You realize it's just a one way, single lane trip. GOTY BECAUSE IT MADE ME FEEL A FEELING.

GTA V? Can't play pool, the ending was meh and the humor seemed crass. 2/10 WOULD NOT BANG.

Then again Saints Row 3 is hilarious comic genius. HAHAHA OMG GUYS THE GUY FROM THEY LIVE IS FIGHTING THE OTHER GUY FROM THEY LIVE LIKE IN THEY LIVE. AND BUTTS AND DILDOS. Nvm, that's 4. The shameless cash grab one with butts and dildos.

It's a great point. There is all this secrecy, and I really can't understand why.

Every AAA game gets the hype train rolling early, but all the consumers get is journalists saying they can't say anything about something until a day or two before it is released. Which would make sense if the games were terrible, but in most cases they are well reviewed. Why not let people just talk about your fucking game? It isn't as if something will radically change a week or month before release. The whole "Oh man I'd love to talk about my recent visit to (development house) where I played a bunch of stuff but I can't do that for 7 more hours after this podcast is recorded!"

Fuck off. Don't invite press to your events if they can't write or talk about it.

Reading the recap of that Madrozzo mission really puts it in perspective... I've done that several times and had a great time but yes, the payout is hilariously out of proportion to the mission.

In general, racing is a far more efficient way to earn money and level up. Which is a shame, since the missions are actually very flexible and a lot of fun.

It does seem like they're setting the table to sell cash cards.
