Best of 2011

Quick and dirty, seeing as how it's March 2015.

  • This is everything I want from a solo game experience.

  • I understand why other fans of the series were less than pleased, but I can't help but prefer this over 2. Sacrificing some customization and freedom of choice for a better story and the overall gameplay improvements is a no brainer.

  • Just look at my review to see why I love this game so much.

  • Down down B is Kabal's stage fatality, and something like back back forward back X or back forward back forward X, honestly just twitch back and forth and hit an attack button, you have time, is his first fatality.

  • I never beat Ornstein and Smough on my own, and I never reached Nito. This is my cross to bear.

  • I liked the first game but wasn't nuts about it. I probably wouldn't have been as excited for 2 if they hadn't gone as far with the ARG as they did. A fucking BBS, updating the first game with an extended ending, and so on, Valve went nuts with the promotion for this game. A billboard here in Minnetonka that only some low income housing sees was even painted up with the game. Everyone knew about Portal 2.

  • The final entry in the trilogy was also the best. This story shouldn't be one I cared about, but I had grown attached to Delta Squad, and I think they wrapped things up fairly well.

  • Even the mediocre Catwoman segments can't weigh this game down. I appreciate Rocksteady for having another easter egg hidden so well they had to come out years later and go "Okay guys, here's the thing you never found".

  • I like it more than Transistor. Supergiants debut feels genuine in a way many games wish they could.

  • Short but sweet. It's like Resident Evil 4, but from an alternate dimension where Resident Evil 4 is fucking nuts and recreates an entire scene from Evil Dead because why not?
