lol

Have you never been playing support and had a Winston jump in, murder you, and then jump back out?

Before I can murder him or cause him to panic? No.Only time 99% of Winston players harass anywhere near effectively (in the PC/PS4 games I've played) is when they ult and if the team is actually talking you can clean him up fast.

since if Roadhog doesn't get a hook kill to start a snowball he's just feeding the other team ults

You basically just said something that goes for nearly every up front champion in the game. "If you're screwing up and not playing well you're just helping the other team." :|

Well then you must be the most godlike support player in the world considering that some of the best players in the game get destroyed by Winston. And if your team is communicating when you're Winston then the other team can't deal with him easily all the time because you can't focus him down when you're occupied with the rest of his team. I also enjoy how you ignored my point about how he's used by pro teams all the time because of how effective he is at killing back line heroes to give them the advantage in team fights. Nobody who plays the game at a high level thinks Winston needs to be improved, and if anything he's too easy to play for how effective he is. But I'm sure your personal anecdotes of never dying to Winston must mean he's bad.
As for Roadhog, no, it doesn't apply to others, because they don't have 600 health and a huge hitbox. He isn't run that much competitively for this specific reason.
But I'm sure people who've been playing this game constantly since closed beta have no idea what they're talking about.

@williamflattener:For Winston I'm not sure I'd sit on the payload as much as he suggested (I feel like Winston should mostly be disrupting the enemy team and taking out their supports/Genji/Widowmaker before leaping out at low health), but you certainly can, and you should always go back once your job is done as it heals you and you don't need to keep pushing the enemy to engage them since you always leap in there anyway. Even when you know there's a Winston on the other team, the leap is still surprising. Also, landing on somebody with it does 50 damage, and his gun does I believe 54 DPS, so with jump it should take 3 seconds to kill most of your targets. By that time, it'll almost be off cooldown so you can jump back out or jump onto another target. He also benefits greatly from map awareness (good escape routes when you can jump, knowing where health packs are since it's not always possible to get back to a healer/they may be dead). Also, it's fine to pop your ult just as a heal even if you're only fighting one opponent. A good Winston is a healthy Winston.

Oh, and just to touch on the barrier, you need to dance in and out of it, as the enemy can't shoot through it at all and so will have to come inside, which is your optimal range. Then you can back out of it while still hitting them since you can still shoot through it. It's extremely good.

Reconsider playing him if the other team has more than one of Reaper/McCree/Roadhog, and definitely don't play him if they have even one Bastion (the absolute hardest Winston counter).

I think Winston needs to be rebalanced. Outside of just being a nuisance he doesn't offer much of value and I'd always take Reinhardt, D.va, or Roadhog over him (and even Zarya). Reinhardt is great and can really spoil a defensive teams line if the player has good timing and understanding of their kills. Roadhog is my favorite character in the game. With his damage output, chain, and sustain he can not only harass teams but effectively eliminate threats. D.va might not have the high DPS as other units but she can also harass and has high sustain. I've gotten to where I consistently have at least 70% + chain accuracy as Roadhog.

Spoken like somebody who's bad with Winston. Have you never been playing support and had a Winston jump in, murder you, and then jump back out? His jump pack is on a 6 second cooldown and the timer starts when he leaves the ground, meaning he can jump in, do his job, and leave by the time you're dead. If the other team is running double support or Genji or just a bunch of squishy characters in general, Winston is an auto-pick. There's a reason double Winston has been run in pro teams since forever (cause you can both jump on, say, a Widowmaker, dealing 100 damage if you land on her, and then kill her in 1 second with double Tesla). You are right in that he's a nuisance, but he's a nuisance that, with ult, has an effective health pool of around 2000 (500 + 600 from barrier + up to 1000 from ult depending on how low you are when you pop it) and has consistent DPS that requires no aiming and can hit multiple targets at once. Oh, and when his ult is almost over, you can jump pack away and then do it again once you're out of ult, at which point you've just tanked an obscene amount of damage and left. He's notably better than D.Va and even Roadhog, since if Roadhog doesn't get a hook kill to start a snowball he's just feeding the other team ults. Also lmao at saying D.Va has high sustain, even a good one is way easier to kill than a decent Winston.

Speaking of D.Va, this guide is a good starting point for these tanks but D.Va is definitely being overvalued here. There's a reason she's the first character Blizzard are looking to buff (the reason is that she's the worst character in the game because her damage falls off way too quickly, she's super slow while firing and her headshot hitbox is gigantic). She's so bad that characters like Hanzo and Widow that she should counter can blow her up by hitting her huge cockpit before she even gets to them. Her ult has potential when somebody goes into the lab and finds all the different angles you can send it over things to blow up right when it gets over so that they can't run away, but right now it sucks.

Also worth noting for Roadhog that when you hook, if you hold left-click once you've landed the hook you'll fire as soon as the animation is over, which means less chance you'll miss (unless the janky hook mechanics send them flying above/behind/to the side of you). You can also cancel his reload into the heal to save a bit of time, which isn't very hard to do and is extremely useful.

The problem with West is that, despite Dan playing a ton of it, he looks like he's absolutely terrible. Like, he's usually decent at games, but we've seen he's not the hottest at FPS, and watching him play Overwatch during the stream/QL was kinda painful. Just a complete lack of awareness of anything happening. Jeff and Brad could carry him if they play Soldier and Pharah respectively, though.

As for East, Austin seems like the staff member that understands game systems the easiest across both offices, so I feel like they'll have an advantage when it comes to knowing all of the little tricks in the game (will we see some hot animation cancels, I wonder?). I also have faith in him to co-ordinate them. I need Vinny to play Reinhardt, that character was built for him. Big ass shield but can also go dumb when he wants to. I imagine he'll be playing some type of support, which will offset that he doesn't play a lot of shooters. Alex will be the Dan of East, but probably work with his team better.

It's a tough one to call. Also, do we have any idea what the setup for this will be? Will they not be having stuff sent to E3 by this point? I'm also thinking there will be some guests brought in as I don't think you can get away with bots (can you even play 3v3? Seems like it'd be awful). If there are guests, this will probably hinge on them quite heavily.

I just got caught up on kiznaiver as I hadn't watched in a few weeks and it picked up a whole lot. I'm still not sure how "good" it is but boy do I want the next episode Injected straight into my life force. That last episode actually made my heart hurt too (I'm a sucker for melodrama though). I love these dumb characters now, I just want them to be happy. STOP MAKING NICO CRY

I'm also caught up on Helck and that is still a good manga that manages its nigh-apocalyptic sadness with hope and wonderful character interaction so well. Helck deserves all the goddamn hugs

Apparently I posted in here but never put my tag. CustardGas#2956, in the UK but also play on NA regularly so will play with anyone (I got very good at gears of war 1 on really shitty Internet, so playing with under 100+ ping is like offline to me). Also know a fair bit about the game so if you want some hot tips, holla at ya boy.

Edit: I'm AAA on the discord, I'm very bad at sticking to one username

As has been mentioned, these games are long and when you finish even one you might not be ready to play another one for a while, so it's worth considering just waiting for 5,

If you play P3, there's a serious consideration to be made between FES and P3P. I played like 10+hours of FES and the lack of control over my other party members was driving me insane, at which point I discovered that in P3P you can control them so I started that instead. This made the combat way easier (and it's probably actually too easy as I stopped playing towards the end due to how often I was in the dungeon just stomping everything but still better than the AI fucking you over constantly which is even more annoying when you're in the dungeon all the time). It's also very visual novel-style in presentation, which some people don't like, but it makes navigation way quicker and easier and when the game is so damn long and requires so much time management and constant going back and forth from different places I very much appreciate just selecting locations instead of actually running around (it gets extremely tedious in the dorm, for example).

Haven't been tempted, and I think they're aware of how few people will probably actually buy boxes but it's in there for those that want to get stuff quicker. It's maybe the least offensive micro transaction in a paid game I've seen because it doesn't matter and it's not shoved in your face at all.

Also remember that this is a game you have to buy, so they don't really need to make you want to buy the boxes, they already have your money.

The torbjorn salt in this thread fuels my beautiful turret. Yesterday I didn't die on him like 3 games? Kinda ridiculous. His turret isn't actually too great, but his gun... His fucking gun. The left click needs some finesse to use well but you can counter snipe an unsuspecting widow/hanzo with it, and the right click does some great damage up close. Then you hit the molten core and RIP other team, I'm dumping these right clicks wth the quickness and my turret you almost killed is back with a vengeance. Then when your team is dead I'm taking that scrap and armouring the whole team up. God bless you torbjorn.

Lucio and Junkrat are both better characters that I also love a great deal. Roadhog is the most fun tank, that hook is so damn satisfying but also so damn janky, Lucio please stop flying in the air when I hook you ffs.

Also, while we're talking characters, fuck mccree so hard. Flashbang is ridiculous, fan is ridiculous, he can fucking roll to reload and get another fan off, and his ult is one of the best in the game. Oh, and in midrange his left click still does good damage. Honestly the only character that makes me legit salty.

I joined the discord and I have played with friends, that's not what I meant. I'm also not trying to discourage others from trying.

It's just that I am not a long-time battle.net user and my current reaction to it has been quite negative.

If anyone knows the answer to the following questions I would very much appreciate the help:

  1. How do I add players I've played with in a game to my friends list?
  2. How do I find players I've played with on battle.net?
  3. How do I add players to my friends list I am currently playing with?
  4. Why do I have to literally change my battle.net region to be able to play with friends from certain regions?
  5. (If none of these things are possible, who on earth designed this system and thought it was a good idea?)

Bnet is just terrible tbh.

1. I believe there is somewhere in the game where you can view recent players and add them from there (I think you might have to copy their id and paste it into the client's add friend function). Obviously don't have access to the game right now so can't point out where, but I definitely remember seeing some sort of recent players list.

2. Get their full bnet id

3. See 2. This is pretty much the only way I believe.

4. There's not really a good reason for this, you just have to. I'm used to it at this point but it is pretty dumb.

Basically, you need to get them IDs.

As for this thread, the one time I didn't have anybody to play with and couldn't bear playing alone I hopped on the GB discord and got a couple folks to play with super easily, and within an hour we had a full team and forgot how to lose. It was very fun.
