1.8.21 Win a PS5? Sold

Well i guess i'm back on the red bull drinking train just so i can have a chance at winning a PS5 at 7-11. I guess 2021 is not the year that i stop putting toxins into my body. Been driving alot for work lately and i really have settle into the idea of listening to my french podcasts at half speed so i can retain some of the language. Having free time to think outside of people and media has been great. I start a new job in 17 days and we lose a moron president in (im not even going to dignify the concept with a number). I watched half of Pearl Harbor on dvd (an unfortunate 2 disc dvd with half the movie on one and the other half on the other) and it's not so bad. I'm starting to understand criticism as more of a self exploration and less as definitive statements. I love the movie Mad Max and that is one I wish i could see on the big screen. Movies are made for the big screen. Any house i buy will have to have enough blank wall space (can light stain it? maybe oh well) that I can get a nice aspect ratio on a clean wall.

Top 5 Favorite movies as of Today

  1. Death Proof
  2. Inception
  3. Mad Max
  4. Inglorious Bastards
  5. Back to the Future

1.7.21 The Arrival

Should finish My Friend Pedro. Starting Unravel because it's tied to $0.50 in Microsoft Reward points (pathetic, i know). I always wanted to be paid for gaming and this is the closest i'll ever get. Reminds me of how much i hate people that pitch microsoft rewards as some viable means of income. The amount of time you spend searching on bing or going down rabbit holes to earn what will amount to in your lifetime maybe $1000 is just stupid. My roommate told me this money making scheme of going to thrift stores, scanning books for prices, then putting them up on ebay. He said a friend made some money doing this. Just stupid. Not worth the conversation.

So I will finish My Friend Pedro and hopefully finish reading the book On Writing by Stephen King. Then I'd like to pick up the 4K blu-ray of the arrival which is a dope movie. Then it's off to play some hockey. Get my skates sharpened. Gym. Watch the movie Popeye and continue working on finishing up my French mastery.

Picked up Mega Man X & X2 Collection as well as the correct Brothers by Josef Fares.

1.6.21 My Friend Pedro

500 GB seems quite sufficient when you're downloading 2D games without alot of assets. Yesterday i boot up Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order which looks like a soupy mess on a One-S. It gives me all the Uncharted playing-itself vibes that I hate. I do like the fact that I am only playing 2D games and Star Wars games. I wouldn't call myself a Star Wars nerd in the slightest. I don't own a single book. But i think some of the art work would make for a great coffee table book. There is a $99 box set of 4K blu rays that I might pick up one day. The newest 3 movies from the Skywalker Trilogy (? are mostly unseen by by me with the Skywalker Saga never really ever being reexamined.

I picked up My Friend Pedro from Gamepass. Some of the anxiety i felt about getting my money's worth of out gamepass has been alleviated by the 2D ony rule. I theoretically could play all of my games with gold 2d titles and chip away at all of the Gamepass 2D games and be able to walk away in October 2021 with enough games and the kind of games that arent expensive, have tremendous replay value, dont require high end televisions, dont' necessitate the newest systems, and have great music. I'm pretty jazzed. Need to go back to Shadow Complex but it's price at $14.99

Picked up Unraveled and Unraveled 2 on EA Access for some microsoft points. It's kind of sad the extent to which people will spend precious time (their most valuable resources) to acquire something free or an arbitrary discount. Myself included.

1.5.21 Daily Blog.

Open up the day with a PUBG salvo. Let's see how this goes. Lost before the guns materialized. Uninstalled.

Neon Abyss has finally clicked for me. Strong Rocket Riot vibes from playing the Windows Phone at a Best Buy. I can't wait for all the forgettable 2D-iOS games to make their way to consoles and switch. Can't justify a switch til they fix their joycons. The game is kind of cluttered but I love that transition period from just playing a game to fully getting it. I'm there with Neon Abyss. Added Dead Cells of (filip mucen fame) and Hollow Knight to my library. Very tempted to buy the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, Mega Man Collection, Aladdin & Lion King, Disney Afternoon Collection, and maybe something like Zelda 2:The Adventure of Link. I'm the most excited about games than i've been for a while. Not having 3d on the radar has opened me up to way more games.

Over on the forums they are celebrating Tim Rogers. Not me.

Daily Game Log 1.4.21

I play games almost every day. I do a poor job of archiving my experiences. I am too focused on writing reviews. I will still write reviews but I will try and keep better track of what I'm playing. All of this cloud storage and I really didn't archive what I played in 2020. Yes, I could go back and look at my achievements (though the new Xbox iOS app obscures how important achievements are). My reviews are great for what I actually beat but does not account for what i put down in any significant way. I could go into how much I hated Persona 5 after 100 hours and not even the Persona 5 Royal complete edition could ever bring me back to that game. It's just bad JRPG and confirms how much i hate those kind of games.

The first game i played in 2021 was PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. I have learned to just play one match and move on with life. The commitment is too much and the addiction to go back and do better is too great. Part of the reason I am looking to only play side-scrollers is that I'm just sick of how similar 3rd-person and 1st-person games are starting to all be. I have spent the last 2 decades chasing 3rd person. Right up until we got VR which is the ultimate recreation of first person and 3rd person *golf clap* we did it. I've neglected 2D for so long that if i stick to those games only in 2021 I might actually catch up with some of the biggest gaps in my gaming life.

The first game 2-D game i booted up in 2021 was Max: The Curse of Brotherhood. I thought I might have Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons through games with gold or something. Between Epic, Steam, and Xbox (gwg and gamepass) I probably do have it. So I played Max for about an hour and I enjoyed what I played. I jumped into Neon Abyss and it's got 11.5 hours of gameplay ahead of me. I'm looking forward to playing more fighting games and getting around to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, the Assassin's Creed Chronicles, River City Ransom, and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game.

Hopefully I can knock out a bunch of games, write a bunch of reviews, and get enough 2D knowledge under my belt that I won't need the new consoles (PS5 and Series X) because I'll be looking to replay games and post some unbeatable times on my Xbox Live account. Lets-a-go.
