2020 has been a bountiful year of gaming for me. The most ever. I logged on to the thegameawards.com site to see what titles and circumstances are worth my support. I made 1 vote (Best Performance| Ashley Johnson| Ellie). What was represented did not speak to me in my 2020 gaming experience.

Doom Eternal got short shrift because if my days are numbered I'd rather see what La Noire was all about than more of the same in Doom. I'm sure most of Giantbomb's staff and viewership was in a similar boat. I would hope that 2020's events would allow for a break in precedence more than any before.

As the community reached for the controller more than ever I am more interested in Alex's driving force for getting into Eurotruck Simulator and whether Mass Alex was torture as a bookend to 2020.

With Abby leaving and ownership changing hands can we get some categories that actually mean something in 2020? Rewrite the rules. If historians are only going to take the GOTY podcast as the authority on what 2020 was for gamers (more specificially Giantbomb) please do better than 'Best new character or Best moment.' As giantbomb members we are here for whatever you produce. But please do better than thegameawards.com. Their efforts aren't worth more than youtubing the world premier trailers the following day and as conversation starters for your out of touch parents or partner.

I loved (yes past tense) VR and I really don't see myself playing VR much with move controllers if i do play VR again. I think VR is most optimal for games that are played with a controller like Resident Evil 7 or Rigs. I don't see myself ever caring about room scale when doing things like playing sports IRL is something i do daily, thought admittedly i haven't played anything that uses move controllers. I'm still intrigued by our real world. Maybe Sony's Move-2 controllers will feature the similar tech to the dual sense and really change my mind. The announcement on the means of acquiring the PS4 camera adapter makes me curious about how all in Sony will go with PS5. Wireless or not the controllers maketh the game. All the squealing from journalists about the dual sense has me excited for VR capabilities and not traditional games.

Is there a game, no matter how obscure, that features a main quest or sidequests that just squares with what is going on in the world 2020. A raging fire in Dragon Quest 7 like the ones California? Election in Final Fantasy XV? Symphony of the Night have you seeking out components for a potion that cures a virus? I'd prefer sidequests so when I stumble upon your reference point I'll be sure to check it out. I'll start.

In Far Cry 5 The Prodigal Son Mission has you running errands for a side character and his father who is running for office.
