@ziegfredzsm: Neither of the things you said are particularly compelling though, without evidence. I think that's the only point of the Gamer piece, largely. I also don't think it's claiming anything is "okay"...I'm not sure where you got that from. It's simply delineating between the situations and why they chose to cover one and not the other. I find it a little odd at best, telling at worst, that a part of your takeaway was: "that it's ok is that we are 100% sure the profits arnt helping fund genocide so it's ok" because I'm not seeing it in the slightest.
Either way, there is zero responsibility, (ethical or otherwise) for game critics to review/cover/whatever a game, so this wouldn't be a "gotcha" even if the allegations all turn out to be true.
@av_gamer: I don't care at all about a change in style from a preciousness about the mechanics of Dragon Age. I am worried about the team's competency with character action, and the myriad ways this project has grown, changed, and died, and regrown over the years don't fill me with confidence. Especially about a game that will be a wholesale mechanical departure from their previous games.
@allthedinos: My wife and I will join you in the minority. It sounds like a terrible idea to me, and people claiming Inquisition was already there I feel like don't remember Inquisition. Obviously I hope it works out, but I'm not holding my breath that an RPG maker (especially of Bioware's modern, all-over-the-place pedigree) can pull off rewarding, action-based combat.
Me four. Definitely not the direction I want as a fan of the series. This doesn't feel like a decision made because they think it will actually make for a better game. It feels much more like a trend-chasing "Crap, we really need a hit! Uh, what's popular right now? God of War won a bunch of awards, right? Let's do that!"
And forgive me but, Bioware has enough trouble releasing games one might consider "in their wheelhouse" right now, I'm not sure hearing "we're branching out to something COMPLETELY different" raises my confidence since the most recent instance of that was Anthem.

A lot of you need to take a deep breath and go do something you enjoy and stop fucking worrying about people you've to the degree that it seems like you are. Also, I say some variation of this every year and it never stops being sad.

I always viewed soups in the same vein as Scotch whisky. I think ramen and chili (noodles and stew) are more specific soups, meaning you could say: all ramen is a soup, but not all soup is ramen.
This is a game that should have been a uh.......what's a phrase for sure thing? Anyway, I hate it. It just doesn't feel good, it takes WAY TOO LONG to do anything, and it's charm kind of vanishes under the weight of those negatives for me.
