Licensed Soundtracks

Favorite licensed soundtracks in games that aren't Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

List items

  • A great selection of songs that really evoke the game's mid-1980's setting.

  • An amazing collection of mainstream and obscure heavy metal bands from all eras of the genre's history. Sadly, there's no Iron Maiden or Dio.

  • Great game on its own but I was pleasantly surprised by the licensed tracks in the game and the mood and feel they brought to it.

  • I have mixed feelings about the game itself, but the soundtrack is great! Starts in the 1940's with the sounds of the Andrew sisters and big-band jazz. Concludes in the 1950's with the sounds of R&B and early rock and roll.

  • A sadly overlooked game that has a strong collection of licensed tracks. Great use in particular of Roy Orbison's "In Dreams," Poe's "Haunted" and David Bowie's "Space Oddity."

  • Not quite as strong as Vice City's soundtrack, but still a vast and great collections of songs to crank up on the radio when you're driving through Liberty City. And if you get the download versions of both Episodes, you have even more songs to listen to.

  • Another pleasant surprise. A pretty good collection of licensed songs that evoke the vibe of the dark gothic underbelly of nighttime Los Angeles when the vampires and other creatures of the night come out.

  • Features a bunch of great songs spanning from the 1940's and 1950's. A great introduction to "old timey" music.
