@GooieGreen: WiFi is more prevalent in countries other then the US. I don't get why.

And the funny thing that I've noticed with the WiFi (I only used the 3G for two months) is that even if it doesn't connect to a WiFi hotspot, but detects it, will record the location and download the relevant near data for that location (I use to work across the street from a mcdonalds, so it would check in that area).

Revision: I posted this without looking to see this thread had a second page. I'll leave it, but I don't mean to be so accusatory.

@FluxWaveZ: I was under the impression that you just lost all the free games when the subscription expired. I was in a panic getting $50 together to renew my PS+ sub back in August. Anyone test this out?

@Snail: You keep referring to the cloud saves being a value if you have multiple PS3s. I want to address this in two parts. One is the value is in backing up your saves. I am currently on my forth PS3. They keep going out on me. So not losing my saves the next time is a value to me. The other part is multiple systems don't work well if you are constantly switching between systems. While you can upload a save as many times as you want, pulling them off the cloud server is limited (I'm not sure if its a Sony thing or a publisher thing. For example, some EA games use to not let you even copy saves off a system onto external media, and I've only tried this with my Battlefield save).

But if its not worth it to you, its not worth it. I use to buy a couple new games a month. Now I might buy a total of 4 games a year, and by using one of those purchases on PS+ I get access to a number of other games that I couldn't afford or had decided wasn't worth the money.

However this thread wasn't about the value of PS+, but what to expect. They did say the Instant Game Collection was coming over to the Vita, and I agree that the catalog is so limited that at first we will see two games. As we get closer I feel even more comfortable to say that the two games we will see will be ModNation Racers and Stardust. Then they will probably replace one game a month.

I'm excited. I only have two games I've actually bought on the system. The rest have been the free games.

I know its already out but Little Big Planet. My Vita is sitting in the pawn shop right now (needed the money) but when I get it back I want to pick that one up. I also want to give Retro City Rampage a try on Vita.

Considering that 2K Games was originally leading with the shooter, I get the feeling that this game doesn't have a large budget. Large enough for the gameplay, but probably not enough to have gone all out with the voice acting.

Would have been awesome, but the realities of this franchise tells me that we won't get that (and unless this game really sells, we won't get a sequel either).

Is Canada a part of the Council? I haven't played the game yet but if its not that would explain it. If it is, well its random. So eventually you may get a Canadian.

I'll give it a shot. I loved the games so what do I have to lose if I watch the first episode. The same thing I lose whenever I give any show a shot.

So it was announced that PlayStation Plus is coming to the Vita. This will include cloud saves, auto updating, and free games. What do you expect from the free games. What are we gonna see for the first month, and how many games are gonna be available.

For those who don't know, on the PS3 they have a rotating catalog of titles. If you "buy" the game while its free you can play it during the life of your subscription (if it expires, so does the games). So as old games are rotated out and new ones rotated in you still have access to previous games while also gaining access to the new ones. Right now its a mix of retail releases (games that came out in stores that also have PSN versions) and PSN exclusives.

If I had to guess, I think they will do 2 to 4 games at first. We will see ModNation Racers free. I have no doubt. Its a game that Sony kinda farted out and is a franchise they are effectively abandoning in favor of Little Big Planet Kart Racing. I also think they will make Super Stardust Delta free (although I can see them making the base game free and charging a discount on the expansion DLC).

@Mister_V: It should be mentioned that if you are talking about the built in 3G connection, the Vita has a cap on it that pretty much excludes all big releases (in fact, I think all games are too big right now other then maybe some Minis). If you are talking about tethering, then go for it.

Yeah near doesn't seem as supported as it did in the past (which is funny considering it hasn't been out for a year yet).

I will say that the nice thing about the 3G is that some games actually use it. The prime example I'm speaking of is ModNation Racers. You can use all its online features over 3G (which includes uploading and downloading maps). Also it appears (but I haven't tried) that the Vita can be tied to an AT&T account. Which is nice because I have multiple lines that I'll be moving onto a share plan. It makes it $10 a month to tie the Vita to an existing data plan. If you are not on AT&T then it isn't worth it.
