Excited. Officially. I love Resident Evil, and while I liked the idea of Outbreak I think it was a bit before its time. Hopefully, this will be good game, if they can do it right the idea has a lot of potentially.

Also, why is the name Resident Evil: Raccoon City slightly silly? It is the main setting for the RE games, and based on what the game play and story are like it might be a very apt title.

I have had the system pause for a second before changing to a new section, but that only happened once. As far as being sluggish or dropping frames, I have had none of that, and my everything runs smoothly. Also, while you may not have found that video useful, you have to remember that with Kinect they are expecting a lot of new users to buy in to the xbox. Users that may not have used a system like the 360 or PS3 before, so it may help them.

I'm not American, so this obviously doesn't affect me. However, the posted video does help to explain why this is a bad thing, and everyone should definitely take a look at that. In my opinion, this isn't the right way to go, but somewhere there is a happy middle-ground. With retailers already doing a better job at enforcing the ratings system than those in other media areas, that's definitely not the right way to tackle the issue.

The best way to change the current situation, which in my opinion isn't a bad one at all, is education of parents and carers. A site like What They Play gives a decent place for parents to go to learn about the games that their children are playing. Working to build a site like that which can provide very detailed information for parents and then widely distributing knowledge of its existence to the people who are going to need it would probably go a long way towards...well, whatever it is that Leland Yee wants to stop.

It's tricky. They have a lot of power, but no evidence, whereas we have a pretty strong voice and good ideas, but not enough representation for the masses. Eventually, this will sort itself out, but I don't think this is the one that's going to do that. And just remember, in about 20 years a vast majority of people will have grown up playing games in some way, and then they'll be the ones making the laws.

Sarcasm? Genuine? No, I am definitely going with sarcasm...for a while I was confused there.

Free stuff is cool, everyone likes it and it doesn't hurt anyone. I, however, use my PS3 as a DVD/Blu-Ray player and my PSP sits there begging to be used. I am probably someone who won't get much from this, but I like the fact that it's there for the people who will. Good stuff.

2 year dev cycles are the norm for most companies. That's why big publishers (Activision, mainly) will have devs trade-off to get a yearly franchise going. Call of Duty, for instance, since 2 (I think) has gone Infinity Ward, Trayarch, Infinity War and so on. It's just how long things take if you go at a decent pace and want to end up with something decent.

Ironic, it is not.

" This game blew my mind. It was a 2D platformer but had a huge inventory of weapons, ammo which ran out, intricate levels which had multiple entries/exits, moral choice decisions, crazy ass story with multiple endings...

Later I found out that a lot of these elements were lifted from this "Metroid" game... (Nintendo wasn't very popular where I lived... it was all Sega)

This is one of my "I loved this game but can't remember the name" games. I never owned it, but I used to rent it from my local Blockbuster all the time. I loved it, but I was never any good.

" At this point my only connection to 1up is watching old 1up show and broken pixels episodes and listening to old retronauts and GFW radio podcasts. To me, 1up is now stuck in a time loop from 2006 to 2008 where everything is perfect. sigh "
That is painful, but true. There was a golden age back then, and I am glad that Giant Bomb stepped in just in the knick of time to save me from having to find product things to do.

Even though I just updated my status to show my love/hate relationship, which I believe is the most apt usage of that phrase ever, I just needed a tiny bit more space to talk some more about that.

That game is hard. Really hard. Sometimes it's not hard to finish a level, but getting your time down to that A+ time can be tough. Sometimes that is frustrating, but most of the time it's awesome. I haven't played a game that has put me through so much whilst still being enjoyable since the SNES days. This is new school old school gaming at it's best, I recommend everyone at least tries the demo, which helpfully chooses a bunch of levels from different worlds.

I have managed to A+ all levels from the first 4 worlds except 1. I am leaving the Dark World for later, and am going through world 5 at the moment. In short, despite having 300+ levels that take on average 20 seconds each, that doesn't mean it's about 2 hours of game. I have gotten at least 4 hours wear from it, and I have over half the game left. A much more difficult half, may I add. Try it out, you might find something you love.

Maybe Spaceships just go in to space, but Starships are craft that are able to travel between stars and their surrounding planets? That's the way I would define it, but hey! I'm just making shit up here.
