8 Core PCs. They've been around for a while, actually, but you had to make them custom. The site is Kotaku, it's reliable. Some say it's the most reliable gaming site/source that is not directly from the publisher. 16 Cores are available but rare. The PS3 is technically considered an 8 Core. That was in 2006. Mulit core processing did not even become the tech fashion until after 2003/2004. So...... Times 8 in 2 years? And you think it's impossible to have 16 Cores after 6 or 7 years? You're a troll, brah. In 2011, 8 full cor3e PCs are just a click away, and the less common 16 core does exist. Anything beyond that is homemade by very smart people, and with few software that needs it, it is not commercialized. you can build your very own supercomputer at home, and make it more than 16 cores. I expect no less than 8 full cores for the PS4 and XBOX3 due to PS3's architecture. I would welcome 16 full cores. My info on this topic so far: Nintento: Wii U for 2012 Microsoft: "XBox 3" for late 2013 or 2014 Sony: Playstation Vita for 2012, same to assume Playstation 4 in 2013, one year after its handheld, although it could come much later. No definite info besides the Vita. I expect it by 2015. Sega: rumored to be getting back in the hardware biz earlier this year. Doubtful. I didn't ignore this news just because it was from a reliable source, and although it is probable that they will never make another home console again, they would probably make something cool. the news was actually about an arcade motherboard. Modern Warfare 2 looked great back in 2009, but Battlefield 3, although not as successful, kicked that out the window. In a couple years your lower def PS3 and 360 games will look Indie. About Red-ray, Underworld Awakening, Amazing Spider-Man, and the Hobbit used Red-Ray to film. Also, unless your PC is 5 GHz and 8 Core or better, I doubt it will be beast in 2014, or atleast not by December of that year.

I think everyone here who knows a thing or two about games will agree taht the Wii U will not die out provided Uncharted 4 and Halo 5 come out for the new gen consoles. Among other things........Gears of War, Left 4 Dead, Ratchet and Clank, inFamous......... even Little Big Planet will have enough of a fan base. Sly Cooper even finds a niche. Cool game, but nowhere in the same league as Mario or Ratchet. Honestly who doesn't salivate at the thought of Left 4 Dead 3? Console exclusive titles will keep those consoles afloat, even if they have less sales. If Activision were to be bouight by either Microsoft or Sony however..........big changes. Imagine either one of those guys making Call of Duty a console exclusive series. Dear Jebus........

Yeah dude, wasn't a big thing at first, but neither was digital music, legally at least. We still have CDs coming out the way we have DVDs still selling. Crazy. I just bought a new 3d TV so no more regular Blu-rays for me. Red rays are so crazily incredibly high tech. So many things are now, but they're not commercially big so people don't believe. I think Blu-ray/3d Blu-ray will remain the norm for convenience, plus Cloud and Ultraviolet (digital movies), but Red-ray will crawl its way into the mainstream. By 2020/2025, I think Blu-ray will disappear. I'm thinking too far forward maybe, but with the 3D stuff just popping out after James Cameron's Avatar, I expect volumetric displays to finally edge their way into media within 10 to 15 years.

Also, I think they will be MOSTLY digital, but atleast have like a Thunderbolt or HDSD slot, just in case, so we don't have to rely on wireless only. Just look at the internet. CAT-5 still works. Until they start delivering atleast CAT-7 to normal homes, non-wireless will always be an easy option I think. Also, unless they want to fry our brains and testicles, the fastest internet will probably be wired for a while, until Portal 2 becomes a reality.

Just want to point out 16 core processors DO actually exist. But it is incredibly difficult to write software that utilizes all cores properly so it is doubtful new consoles will be set up as such.
