Trevor Lee vs. Donovan Dijak: Fun match, especially with Trevor turning his heeling up to 11. Worked a little weird with Trevor beating up a much bigger dude, but he did cheat a whole bunch so it wasn't that egregious. The result surprised me; I guess, however, PWG wants Dijak to put over someone else before he goes to WWE or wherever.
Sammy Guevara vs. Joey Janela: Sammy had a fine enough debut, but he and Joey crushed it (and each other) here. So much bonkers shit, though my favorite was the chair-assisted monkey flip spot. Never seen Joey wrestle before, so I don't know if that's a trademark of his, but I've definitely never seen it before. Too bad Sammy cut a pretty bland promo after the match lol
Travis Banks vs. Mark Haskins: Boy did these two kick the shit out of each other. God damn. The match was well on its way to being the best of the night before a weird ending -- I didn't see it very well, so I don't know if there was some miscommunication, but it seemed like the match ended before it was supposed to. Still, super fun, super hard-hitting match. EDIT: Stuff I'm seeing on reddit (so take it with a grain of salt) indicates that Haskins changed the finish and ref Justin wasn't expecting it, so that's where the confusion came from.
LDRS vs. Ricochet/Matt Sydal: So glad LDRS are still full heel even after Zack lost the title. They were such entertaining pieces of shit to the high fliers. Classic, super fun tag match.
Jeff Cobb vs. Sami Callihan: Pretty sure this was the shortest match of the night, a pure sprint from Sami where he also tried to slow down and frustrate Cobb when he could. It worked until Sami got tossed around a whole bunch. Side note: I got hit by a water bottle Sami threw during his entrance. It was very refreshing -- I made sure to thank him after the show.
Matt Riddle vs. Michael Elgin: I'd say this was match of the night. It's all about establishing Riddle's toughness and resiliency -- Elgin hit Riddle with a million bombs, but he just wouldn't stop fighting. Elgin got some NASTY shots in, too. All in on Riddle taking BOLA this year after this match.
Keith Lee vs. WALTER: After a feeling out process, the match transitioned to the pair just beating the living shit out of each other. I will never say no to a big hoss bomb fest. Also enjoyed the story of WALTER having the edge in speed and technique, but Keith having pure power and spirit on his side. They got into a Kobashi-Sasaki-esque chop war at one point, and it ruled.
The Elite vs. Penta El 0 M/Rey Fenix/Flamita: A wonderful, bonkers spotfest. I had a huge smile on my face the entire time. Spot of the match was Fenix frankensteinering his brother onto The Elite but hitting one of the hanging lamps on his way down and causing the light bulb inside to dislodge and break on the ground. The staredown between Kenny Omega and Penta had me so giddy. Where else other than PWG am I going to get that? Pro wrestling rules.
