@jesus_phish: He's a really big deal in Japan, which I'm assuming is still their largest market.

To be honest I feel like the Bombcast feels fresher and more fun than it has in years. Also, Jan stepping up into a bigger role has been great. I didn't realise it but maybe things were becoming a bit stale, and perhaps it was down to those guys' hearts not really being in it any more? I miss them but I'm fully on board with what's coming.

Hard Boiled. The only reason anyone would say anything else is if they hadn’t seen Hard Boiled.

@forheiszombie: 60fps video of real people looks cheap and nasty. 24fps all the way.

Once Upon a Time in China and America

Jet Li kicking people in the face a lot. The film isn't that good, it's set in the Wild West and they apparently hired American people off of the street to play the non Chinese parts. Jet Li's American sidekick isn't bad, but the rest of the acting is horrible. However it does have a lot of kung fu flying around on wires in a way that's pretty rad. Directed by Sammo Hung, who would later go on to look blankly at Arsenio Hall's Chris Tucker impression in several seasons of Martial Law.

@sparky_buzzsaw: They're putting them out regularly too. It's weird after years of 2 or 3 posts a year my inbox is getting flooded with updates. Not complaining though, I gave up on ever seeing this years ago and, like you say, it's kind of interesting.

Watched it for the first time last week. Yeah...I'm a big fan of Carpenter, and Kurt Russell, but without the aid of nostalgia goggles it's not a great movie. The pacing is awful.

Escape from LA is so campy that it's a lot more fun than the original. You just have to go in expecting that. If you're expecting it to be badass then you're going to be disappointed.

Microsoft's first party output has been weak since the back half of the 360/PS3 generation. They've been relying on the same few franchises to prop themselves up for years. They bought a load of promising studios and shut them down. Who knows if they have the man power to push out a load of new IPs to support the Scorpio, but if they don't then I can't see it being anything other than a dud.

Classic Game Room - One of the first video review shows on the internet. Mark has a great voice and sense of humour.

Consolevania - Two Scottish guys, from way back, they went on to make Videogaiden for the BBC, and write for Eurogamer and Rock Paper Shotgun, among other things. As much comedy and weird art film as video game show. These episodes are from years ago but they just got a Patreon funded to make more.

Super Derek RPGs - A bit of an antidote to the usual Youtube screaming. He's super chill, and pretty entertaining.

Also into Metal Jesus Rocks, Happy Console Gamer and Red Letter Media, but they've got their props here already.

Requiem For A Dream was pretty rough, but recently I watched Kotoko, which really fucked me up. It's a Japanese film about a mentally ill woman trying to look after her baby. There are shots in that film that made me feel like I wanted to throw up. There are other parts that made me laugh and cry. It's amazing, but I don't think I ever want to see it again.
