I feel like this was 4 Kingdom Hearts lovers who gush about how Kingdom Hearts FF7 Remake is and how much they loved the game. A dissenting opinion or at least someone who doesn't love Kingdom Hearts would of been a nice juxtaposition.

As a non-Kingdom Hearts fan I found the Dementors inclusion horrible. If this was maybe called FF7 - Restructured or something that wasn't Remake I would of been more open knowing, OK, this is a brand new story, but the marketing and title were horrendous for this game.

Not a huge fan of this 3 day like 12 hr podcast going over all the games they played, many didn't complete, but played. While I feel this is useful for the crew (forgot games, didn't play, never heard of the game etc) and would be a great supplementary podcast, it feels a far cry from a GB GOTY podcast. Without them arguing over a specific set of categories it feels so disjointed and irrelevant. Let alone as someone who listens to the majority of the two GB podcasts and heard about them talk about many of these games before I could just care less to hear about some of these games, especially those I highly expect to come up again in real award discussion later on.

Do I really need 10+ minutes gushing about Bloodstained when they did an entire playthrough video series, which insures it will probably be a GB Top 10 GOTY and heavily discussed in the real awards debates? No. I skipped the entire Outer Wilds section since its clearly in contention for GB #1 GOTY and god its 30 mins of discussion.

The DOTA Underlords discussion sort of highlights why I feel this format is bad. They discussed Underlords for 10 mins and accidentally briefly mention how TFT is way bigger, but none of them played TFT enough to discuss TFT. With 10 mins in this format I would of expected a comparison of TFT and Underlords(even at a rudimentary level), especially when TFT is arguably the superior game, same genre, and both came out this year within a week of each other.

@oceanripple: In general wearing a seat belt is extremely common in the US, but its also fairly common for someone to not wear a seatbelt (its illegal and unsafe, but a lot of things are). In cabs people often don't wear seat belts and surprisingly more people dont then do according to statistics.

I got into the Demo (lets be real it was a beta) for free somehow and the Demo was really bad in a lot of aspects (technical, poor explanations, how huge items are isn't clear if you just play a bit, etc), but the game has a ton of complexity and promise. Currently I plan to get Premium for a month, to save money, and play the game as I doubt there is more then a month of content for a fairly hardcore gamer based on what I have seen.

Something thats hard to understand without playing a decent amount (they start you with literally nothing) is the sheer quantity of loot, builds, and combat depth via primer and detonators with different power setups (essentially weapons with cooldowns). For instance primers and detonators were not explained at all and are a large focus for the game. Something like the Rangers melee is meant to be a primer, which then allows you to get a massive damage boost via a detonator you shoot from another weapon. Overall the gunplay was definitely worse then destiny and is fairly gun dependent (heavy pistol and rocket launcher felt great), but wasn't significantly far behind and some of the weapons are really unique (the explosive sniper rifle was nutz) or require some thought to use (the colossus heavy weapons etc).

Unlike destiny guns seem to take a slight backdrop to power usage and how powers interact with one another, weapons, and ultimates is significant. For instance the Storm ultimate resets the heat bar so you can jump up, hover for like 40s, then ultimate, then hover again for 40s without any gear. Then you can get gear that improves your heat times and all of the sudden that 40s becomes 75s, ultimate in air, then another 75s, and you are hovering for the majority of any fight, its just really item / build dependent and you start with basically 0 items and only get terrible items during the demo so its both hard to convey and was poorly done in the demo.

As for the constant Mass Effect comparisons, it literally never crossed my mind and I outside of Brad and Jeff I don't think i've seen it mentioned by anyone in the forums / reddit. I expected this game to be a mix of Destiny, Warframe, and Diablo and thats exactly what it seems. I never expected an excellent story, just something better then Destiny or at worst case equivalent to Destiny 2's story.

I'm not exactly expecting much out of Anthem, basically a better different Destiny mostly, but I think if this game was labeled Destiny 3 instead of Anthem Brad would of been a fountain of praise instead of the constant negative and downtrodden persona seen here.

I'm shocked Dan was able to get RDR 2 on most disappointing where it belongs.

Recency Bias is so frustrating for these lists as if GoW and RDR 2 were released at each others times Brad would of finished GoW as its new and it would of been fresh in his mind while RDR 2 would of had time to mellow. Meanwhile Abby would of gotten out of the high point of RDR 2 (Chapter 3/4) and seen the dip in chapter 5 and 6.

Its strange, watching CohhCarnage play this game so far, it has some faults but its overall quite great with some really funny and/or crazy quests (they only get crazier once you get to the actual town aka after the military base). Overall its been a delight to watch. It seems like Dan has played the game for literally an hour total (quicklook included) and had already dismissed the game, since it wasn't what he wanted after the initial opening story sequence.

I am not saying the game doesn't have faults, but its like hes looking for every fault possible with some extremely limited playtime and thats something you can do for almost any game and make it look much worse then it actually is.

Biggest advice for Vinny and anyone looking to play, try and maximize your front armor and arm armor. Having max armor is waaay more important then more weapons while learning.

I really dislike capturing in this game, let alone for how insanely trivial it is to do. You do just get MORE rewards for capturing along with removing the need to chew through an insane amount of health (idk the exact number, but its seemed to be at least 20% of their health) that can include an enrage phase. In essence by capturing you are just straight up rewarded for making the encounter significantly easier which makes absolutely no sense.

How is Horizon not even in basic contention, its easily one of the best stories this year and every time they mentioned they say its one of the main reasons to beat the game. Also its like they totally forgot Prey existed. Then we have Divinity which none of them played.

From how all the vods have gone so far it really feels like GB needs someone who actually enjoys games with good Stories, World Building, and Lore to juxtapose against the everyone else.
