I don't really have an idea of the total hours logged, but the two games I have played the most is by far Diablo II and Live for Speed. I played both almost daily for years.
I have no idea what game is in third, but it is a distant third.
Nvidia is making sure next gen consoles will be able to run physx according to that.
Yeah, on ps4 and without full hardware support. So I don't really see what it has to do with this tread in the PC section.
No full or partly Phyxs acceleration on currently or announced AMD PC hardware.
Sure it may be possible in the future, or not, but saying that Physx runs on non-Nvidia cards, just like TressFx runs on Nvidia is just spreading misinformation at this time.
Where I am the boxed version is 25-30% cheaper, so it's not a hard choice.
If the price was the same I would still pick the boxed version, because I like to get something physical that can be seen, touched and put on the shelf.
Only pro with the download version is that I can be ready from hour one after release, but thats irrelevant. I gotta work and will properly just wait till the following weekend before I dive in.
Mass Effect 2 PC. Plays a video, and the loads last as long as the videos. Fine for consoles, but on PC when you replace the BIK files it loads super fast and doesnt have to play the video.
I had completely forgotten about that, even though I used a custom moviepak myself.
Guess I'm not able to make up something that is dumber than whats already reality.
It would be interesting to hear how these decisions get made. What argument was behind having people looking at loading screens for 20 seconds. They did not contain any info regarding to the story.
Even if its using the same assets it will still look alot better in a higher resolution.
I have no problem with simple textures and models from the console version.
But an artificial 30 fps frame limit is just idiotic. I don't get the logic behind such a thing, why sabotage your own product? The next thing will be a lower limit on load times. God forbid it should be to fast.
It will be interesting to see if the pirate version gets fixed like they did with LA Noir.
Pirates got 60fps, 16:10 ar and larger FOV after the developers had failed in doing so.
You can turn the game updates off if you don't have the bandwidth to download it.
You are only required to use the latest version if you are playing online. But that would also be the case with are pure boxed version of the game, not just a steam version.
I also hate DRM with a passion. It's inconvenient for customers and does nothing against piracy. 99% of games are cracked on the day of release or sooner.
But there are a lot of worse DRM methods than Steam, even without all the great extra features Steam can provide if you have a more permanent internet connection.
Edit: Also if I buy a Windows game that requires internet to activate, then I would assume that it means working internet in Windows. If your internet only works in MacOS or on your Mobile Phone, then blame youself and your superior computer instead of Steam.
