Bought Dark Cloud 1&2, Valkyria Chronicles, and Persona 3 FES yesterday because the latter two were mislabled and were $12 and $20 cheaper respectively.
And DC 1&2 were used (in really good condition) for like 2 dollars each.
Everytime Jeff mentions his view on Borderlands I want to (figuratively speaking) punch him in the head. I get the whole opinion and play style thing, but he seems to look down upon people who play other classes, and almost shit his pants at the data that said the classes were almost even in terms of usage. C'mon, not everyone likes to be in their cozy little regen shell with 3 shot burst (though I roll with 4 of 'em). I can't stand playing as a Soldier, so maybe I'm biased, but hell...so is Jeff, right?
Ryan and Jeff's close-mindedness about virtually everything is appaling, but the other GB crew seems to be less infuriating. Though, the accolades they give to Batman: AA are mostly those of astonished fanboys or people who have never played the pinnacle of a Metroidvania, or don't really understand how a combat system should work in those games.
Bombcast, 4Player Podcast, and Rebel FM. I barely have time for the Bobmcast, and the other two are just to hold me over 'till B-Cast Tuesdays.
Started with 4Player, but realised that half the crew is either ridiculously inexperienced or too seclusionary and gave up on them. I had downloaded a few Bombcasts after hearing about them from 4PP, and never really listened to them. And, here we are.
"shin megami tensei: imagine AKA Megaten i downloaded it, i started to play it less and less, then i just uninstalled it cuz i never played after the first few days (but im not blaming the mmo, my motivation to play a game that long goes really quickly, but thats my problem) "
I'd say this, but the UI is so god-damn archaic (see: Everquest's inane original menu system) and te movement is so slow, that it gets real boring, real fast.
Though, it's got that MegaTen style to it that made it hard to put down...until I realised the ass-ness of the game.
Oh, and D&D Online is pretty good, and the combat is at least somewhat more enjoyable for an MMORPG.
I'm sorry, but Mr. K0rn has neglected to notice several various reasons why the console is still going, and I'm going to condense them into one post so he will either have to notice them, or ignore them as usual. Further note that I am unbiased either way, I have all of the PS2 games that I could want (at least to date) and own a Gamecube, Xbox, Xbox 360, and PS3 :
- The second most basic rule to economics is "If it sells, keep it" and that is the fatal flaw to your arguement.
- Furthermore, the most basic rule of economics, that is Supply N' Demand, is supported here. The PS2 is demanded by those who either cannot afford 300+ for a console, don't want a Wii, or simply don't want to pour money into a hobby like that.
- Like I said previously, most people aren't willing to pour 300 dollars into a black (or white) box with fancy circuitboards because they aren't "Extreme" like you and me.
- The obsolescence you seem to believe in is just pathetic. The PS2 is not obsolete because Sony isn't focusing time on the thing. An item is obsolete when it is no longer viable to sell, produce, or spend time on. You are confusing this with being out-dated, which it is also not. The 7th gen is upon us, but the PS2 has reasonable enough hardware (in fact, hardware that surpasses a 7th gen console) that it maintains sale count by both the "hardcore" and "casual".
- And lastly, SONY DOESN'T SPEND TIME ON THE PS2! When someone supports a console, they run ads, they publish 20+ games a year (especially if the console they're "spending time on" is 1st party), and they most importantly...hold on...UPDATE the system. The system hasn't had any recalls because there is no hardware to update because...Wait...hold...
"Video games aren't going anywhere. Stick to your responsibilities for now. The games will be waiting when you return. "
This right here. I've recently hd to focus on my studies so I can even hope to get some sort of Engineering degree, so I've calmed down my gameplaying (minus half-an-hour or so of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 sometimes), and I just bought Persona 4 because my studies are cooling down, and I'll have some time to try and run this monster.
Pro-tip: Thinking about long-ass JRPG's while staring down some mad Calculus problems is not smart.
