Competition is good, but it is still a bummer to have to use so many different services. That goes for pretty much all media. We ended up getting rid of expensive cable packages, but I feel like pretty soon we will have essentially the same thing, but for the internet. I wouldn't be surprised if when 5G rolls around you buy some very expensive premium package from your provider and get Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Stadia, Spotify, Game Pass, etc.. It is not hard to imagine Epic or Valve creating some kind of subscription based games service thing too.

You can definitely parry his main attack thing and take no damage. I beat him without swinging my sword beside the deathblows. You just need to parry every one of his attacks in the combo. It is difficult since it is super fast, but his posture will take huge damage if you do it. I would try literally walking in and spamming L1 as fast as you can for a minute and see what happens. If you are blocking and not actually deflecting/parrying you will take damage no matter what.

If you want a big tip... I struggled like hell with him until I just decided to kill him solely with posture damage, then he became super easy. H does 2 attacks in a row so you need to parry at least twice when you see the shimmer. I think you can even spam the parry button then entire fight, other than when you need to jump his sweep and beat it pretty easily.

The bosses in this game are far harder than anything in any other souls game, except maybe DLC stuff, which I have not played. I felt I could get away with well timed rolls, attacks, and very infrequently a parry or two, with pretty much every other souls boss. You can't do that here.

I mean after 5 or 6 hours I felt confident as fuck, like I knew what to do in pretty much every scenario, but sure enough boss after boss comes along that just destroys you. You essentially need to memorize every one of the bosses moves and have near flawless execution time and time again. I love it.

There were multiple points where I was sure, nothing in the game could be harder than x boss except maybe the final boss. I have been wrong every time.

No. Everything this game is, stems from the difficulty. The difficulty is essential and ingrained into the game at a fundamental level. Playing this on an easy mode would just be a different game. I believe most people would get more out of banging their head against the first boss or even mini boss for hours and finally defeating it than cruising through it on an easy mode, even if they never beat another boss again.

Also, it feels kind of good just to have a set difficulty on a game these days. When someone says, yo I beat Bloodborne (or Sekrio), you know exactly what that means and think fuck yeah dude. That game is hard and we triumphed. You feel like you are part of a club.

I mean realistically, these games are not as hard as people make it seem, but they do take time and patience to get through and they are as rewarding as anything else in videogames. I mean of course it doesn't mean you are some elite gamer or some bullshit for beating them, but it is still a fun challenge and everyone understands exactly what you went through to beat them. And that's kind of fucking cool.

This game is incredible. Looking back only a couple of years it seemed impossible for Capcom to make something this good. I'm still in awe of the run Capcom is on.

@ripelivejam: It seems like it is quite a big departure from the formula. What would you have them change? Do you want them to switch genre's or something?

This is legit super concerning. Essentially the number popups are meaningless. It almost seems like their are fundamental issues at the core of the damage system.
