It really sucks, but what can you do? This is unregulated capitalism, this is what the people want apparently. Unfortunately the vast majority of things I enjoy consuming come from workers suffering in shitty working conditions. I wish I was a better person, but abandoning nearly everything that I enjoy in life in hopes to be an extremely tiny part of some kind of movement doesn't seem like the right way to approach this. I think the best thing we can do is try to put people in power who will address issues like this on a broader scale.

Wow that makes so much sense. Definitely a category that we need. Like you mentioned, I'd love to see some debate over things like the satisfaction of swinging vs throwing the axe, etc. I feel like this is a category games like Titanfall 2 could have done well.

I am so fucking excited for this game.

I think there is a good chance a bunch of people are really going to hate it, but as far as I am concerned they are doing just about everything I could ask for in a game like this. And like many people sometimes I don't want to deal with systems like weapon degradation (BotW) or encumbrance (Elder Scrolls). I get why that turns people off. But to me those games are not grounded in realism and play very arcadey which is why it feels out of place and just sucks.

RDR2 appears to be going for hyper realism and I think a western is about as perfect a place as any to push that envelope. Another Red Dead with 2018 graphics and gameplay would be cool, but they had to bring something new to the table. I want to clean my horse and maintain my gun. I want a worse shave when I do it at camp and not the barber. I want to tuck my pants into my boots or roll up my sleeves on a whim. I want my horse to need more than 1 second to come to a stop from a full gallop. I am so glad they are just going for it. This is the exact kind of game I want to live in when I boot it up. We have plenty of arcadey run of the mill open world titles, give me something fresh.

Also, they brought back the Max Payne 3 style of gun holding. Fuck yes that shit was so cool.

@dudeglove: I never got the sense that anything looked cheap, as in a tacky low budget mess or something, just obviously as you said heavily stylized. You act like they are tying to cover up how run down the location(s) are even though that is the exactly what the setting is supposed to be.

I totally get that many people will think it is slow and badly paced. To me it felt like a slow burning acid trip that I didn't want to come down from, thus I was glued to the screen for the duration of the movie and didn't have any problems myself.

Normally when people say something is good, but too slow, I almost never have an issue with it so I am probably an outlier. However, it is funny that you mention Killing of a Sacred Deer because that was a movie I was really excited for after I loved The Lobster, but it ended up being super boring to me. Maybe I should try revisiting it.

Loved it. Very few movies feel like this one did and it completely nailed the LSD vibe. I enjoyed soaking in the visuals and soundtrack and never felt like anything overstayed its welcome.

I played very hardcore in Vanilla, half of BC, and a small amount at the end of Lich King. I decided fuck it and came back when BfA came out to see where the game was these days.

I was pretty impressed by the leveling compared to what it used to and some parts of the new zones are completely gorgeous. I also tried out the lvl 110 versions of several classes and some of them had pretty interesting play styles. I feel like alot of the actual gameplay is vastly better than what it used to be which is cool to see.

However, there has been a lot of major bummers as I got deeper into the systems. First off, I really wanted to play a void elf which was new to BfA, but found out I had to go grind rep from the previous expansion in order to do so. What the fuck...

The azerite armor system seems really bad. Half the time I get a better ilvl piece it does not have the trait I need and ends up being a downgrade or sidegrade. That is completely retarded game design. I also, really dislike having to level up the stupid necklace just to use some of the traits. I feel like I am playing some mobile game or something where I have to log in everyday and do my world quests just to be competitive. Another thing I always enjoyed was leveling alts, but the fact that I have to re-level the azerite necklace on each of them just sucks. Makes me not want to play them at all.

The professions also seem incomplete or something. I remember there being a million more end game things to craft back in the day. Most of the best crafted stuff seems they can be replaced by raid/mythic dungeon drops. I enjoyed completing really great blacksmithing items in BC , which yes took a while, but they were top tier and lasted me a long time.

I do want to say I like the focus on world pvp. I like that they have systems in place to encourage people engaging in it. World pvp was always a highlight of WoW for me. The rest of the Alliance vs Horde stuff, like the warfronts and island expansions seems boring as hell though.

Maybe some of my criticisms are there simply because I already got everything I could out of playing WoW a decade ago. With that said, I have read many of the changes from legion and yeah it seems like they have made strictly worse systems for BfA. I really can't get over how much this game feels like a mobile game trying to get me to log in constantly to increase some number. Such a bummer.

This has been a weird one. There is much to love and much to hate.

Sometimes with certain huge AAA releases I feel like you just know when you are playing something that is on another level. Something absolutely world class made by the most talented developers at the top of their game. Games like Red Dead Redemption, The Last of Us, and this years God of War made me feel that way.

This game has moments that reach those heights, but it just can't sustain the level of greatness I feel those games did. This game runs the spectrum from god tier to dogshit and everywhere in between.

The world and the traversal are unlike anything I have ever seen. This city is just fucking nuts. I can stop at any moment and just be in complete awe of how gorgeous and vast it is. I cannot fathom how they made this game run so well while moving very quickly through such detailed and well populated environment. The swinging is fast and fluid and rewarding and just fun as hell. They could not have nailed it more and it is by far the most important part of the game to get right.

The combat is good. It isn't revolutionizing anything, but it is fun and fast paced and something I can enjoy for however long it will take me to beat the game. You really do feel like spider-man and that alone is impressive. I think this game pretty much squeezes everything you can get out of the arkham brawler formula of combat.

The collectibles are pretty fun to get simply because moving around the world is the core part of what makes this game fun. The crafting and upgrades are not super deep or anything, but it is still decently rewarding.

The side missions are okayish. Some are better than other, but alot are pretty boring or repetitive. I feel like you kind of need them in there to fill out the game, but they are definitely not a highlight and I often feel unsure if it is even worth my time when doing them.

The QTE parts and set pieces, at least so far, have been either bad or middling at best. I feel like I am playing a knockoff Uncharted or something.

And now for the dogshit. Anytime you are not playing as spider-man straight up sucks shit. It is actually kind of appalling how bad it is. I feel like I rather being doing anything else in my life then playing through that crap. It honestly feels like some shitty, B tier studio came in to make the gameplay for those parts.

On a similar note the puzzles and mini games are fuckkkkking awful. Why am I playing this kiddie time wasting bullshit? Why is this in my life in 2018? What the fuck.

Overall it has been bittersweet. I think it is worth the $60 just for the fact that at any moment I can boot it up and swing around in that world. It really does feel that good. It is a shame the lows are as low as they are. Luckily they are not a huge portion of the game, but they do make it a very uneven experience. I still have not made up my mind on the story since I am not done yet, but it seems kind of mediocre.

I don't think I have been this hyped for a game since The Witcher 3. Hopefully Spiderman can take my mind off this game for bit. Also looks like they are doing the Max Payne 3 style of hyper realistic gun carrying.
