" Ok...After reading this blog I have come to two easy conclusions.
1. It's pointless. 2. It's obviously a gripe against Atari (who didn't write the game, they're the publishers, Eden were the people who put it together) that hasn't been thought out well.
Why? No. 1. While I agree that there are massive issues with the game right now, most of which should have been fixed before launch as they should have been picked up in the Beta testing phase of the game, saying it's shit hardly helps fix any issues does it? In your 'blog' no information was given on why, no suggestions were given on what improvements could be made and no thought was given to opening up a meaningful discussion about the issues. How would Eden use your post to fix the issues? No. 2. You posted it as a blog, inviting us all to take part in the discussion, you made 2 points and claiming racism because the game features left and not right hand drive cars, yet neglected to consider what percentage of the world drives on the left versus the percentage that drives on the right. Whether cars are right or left hand drive actually has nothing to do with race, yeah I was surprised too, but it appears cars are made in factories and often by mixed race employees, they are not born in to ethnic groups like I was that are minority or majority races in the country of dwelling. Not only that but the issue with accents is hardly an issue worth mentioning, I would be more concerned with getting issues like making the PC version use the other 3 cores on a quad core processor or getting the graphics card to do some of the work, running the game while logging the GPU using GPU-Z will show how little graphics processing is being done be the graphics card, PC users should try it. *** edit *** The GPU issue was related to version 0.55 build and seems to have been fixed in the 0.63 build, where I now get a rock solid 60 fps at 59hz and my GPU is being used at 100%. More importantly the Servers, I have had the game 5 days and experienced more then 50% server downtime since getting it, when they put the word Unlimited in the title I didn't think it was meant to be a reference to server to downtime. sizu. Please stop buying Atari games. Thanks. xoxo, "
Wow! What a lot of effort and angst you placed in that reply. Internet Rage Warrior! Defender of Atari!
I have to chuckle at your response since it was fairly obvious that it was a light hearted dig at the game which is on all levels a sub-par racer. A for effort though!
I love this site, and I am always interested in what the guys have to say on games.
however...
The biggest let down for me is the inconsistency regarding reviews for games. Killzone 3 is a prime example. Every website under the sun has published their reviews, yet nothing from the guys here yet. I find this frustrating as I respect the quality of work from the site since I am in the same age bracket as the staff [i.e. not a kid] and usually agree with Jeff's viewpoint on gameplay.
Ok...After playing Test Drive Unlimted 2 on my PS3 I have come to two easy conclusions.
1. The game is shit. 2. The game is racist.
Why?
No. 1. is pretty easy due to the poor handling, poor physics engine, wooden avatar models, broken online servers. Atari continues to impress! /sarcasm. No. 2. The cockpit views are modelled so the driver is on the left hand side. Racist! Us Brits drive on the right hand side. This indifference to our culture disgusts me.
Not only that but last time I was on holiday in Ibiza the locals didn't speak with yank accents. Now albeit when I was in San Antonio for that 14 days I was either drunk on vodka, speeding, or copping disco biscuits but I know a Spanish accent when I hear one. I have yet to witness one Spaniard in that game. The map is inaccurate too.
I wouldn't be too concerned about the Blizzard franchises. Blizzard are in a unique position compared to the other developers under the Acti Blizz umbrella.
It makes perfect sense to conclude the guitar hero franchise. Its day has passed as can be seen with the recent sell of and lay offs at harmonix. As for True Crime, well it never looked that great.
