...hmm I'm a little worried my PS3 might be about to die and its trying to tell me its in trouble. Recently almost every other time I turn it on it beeps and goes through the video output selection thing (the bit where you confirm you want it use HDMI etc)... is there a fault with the system? or am I looking at a dodgy HDMI cable? Or is my OS3 just very forgetful and doesn't remember its meant to be outputting via HDMI...

Cheers for your help people!

@torus: I'd argue that it makes more sense to stay just behind the bleeding edge with PC hardware.

As long as you keep on top of upgrade cycles your fine. Even if you don't it still makes sense. I bought my q6600 system just as they were starting to tail off, right before the 45nm cores came out, its held me in good stead so far and I also went for a 275, my system is still doing well. Sure it doesn't have DX 11 for the moment but crysis flies and anything DX10 can be run full whack,

Also if the OP keeps waiting for the next new chip/card to come out he'll never build a PC...

Jus' sayin'...

Unfortunately I don't have a Xbox 360... Otherwise I'd be playing Forza3...

Although Christmas is almost here so maybe I can wrangle one out of the family...

Didn't really like the demo of DiRT 2 that I played. I haven't liked many of the recent Rally games, the old Colin McCrae Rally games were better I thought...

Burnout paradise is a possibility, the online is pretty awesome. But I'm looking for something a bit less arcade-y than Burnout

I've been playing GRID for my racing fix for a good long while...

I was wondering If there were any other racing games on the PS3 or PC that I should check out? My mate lent me Shift for the PC and I really wasn't fussed by it. Is there anything I've missed or should I just wait for GT 5 to come out....

- Sitting about with mates doing nothing (which does't happen these days as I've moved to a new uni and don;t really know anyone)
- Cheesecake
- The Gym
- And obviously games, playing them, reading about them, telling people about them...

@Laticsfan:  Ha, don't worry I'm not offended....

I'm getting the impression a lot of people had, NES, SNES or Mega Drives (genesis) to start out on.

Maybe I might have missed out on a big chunk'o'gaming history. I started out with my brother on an Amiga. The first game we got was Street Fighter II. I remember both of us begging out parents and having to do chores to earn points to get it. But I can't say I really cared about games then it was just a way for me and my brother to extended our sibling rivarly...

Whereas with the PS I got more into learning about where my games were coming from...
