wait- people care about user reviews? they've always been susceptible to influence and abuse- the bigger the platform (amazon, metacritic, steam), the more blatant/flagrant the nonsense. i suppose if valve is trying to curtail that behaviour it's a step in the right direction, but i think it's a lost cause. i don't think there's a system possible that could convince me user reviews of a subjective experience are worth the 1's and 0's.
Steam reviews are pretty useful since they have the requirement of owning the game. They are a good gauge to go by if I'm interested in a game and it's above 85%, I'm probably safe to get it. If it's lower I can peruse the reviews and see try to find one worth while or go somewhere else to see if it's worth my time.
@xanadu: I only worked like 10 hours a week. Had enough extra grants on top of that to pay everything. Having rent be $230 a month helped quite a bit :P
Gaming, good grades, and social life: pick 2 because you can't do all 3.
Depends on the person. I managed all 3 and slept 7-8 hours a night all through college. Computer Engineering major as well, so it wasn't an easy major really.
Nope. My irrational disgust of 2K and Randy Pitchford translates into me not ever wanting to touch their products. If they ever figure out what Borderlands 3/Borderworlds is in light of Destiny/The Division/Warframe etc. maybe I'll come back to it, but have zero enthusiasm or intention to ever play their stuff.
I hope they don't take much from those games, borderlands is already better than all 3 of those.
@vackillers: I was watching Doug and Rob Walker's 1 hour long discussion about it and they both seemed to think it was just alright, or a "B-" as Rob said.
I actually haven't watched the first two Ghostbusters movies, but I am inclined to watch this one.
Watching this and not the original should be a crime.
Now they are saying that developers can make games improved on Scorpio, depending on how they utilize the teraflops
Spencer explained that Scorpio is a "6 teraflop gaming machine, which will be a great gaming machine for true 4K gaming, giving you a native 4K frame buffer so you can see games in all their beauty.
"Or," he continued, "if developers want to use those 6 teraflops in other ways they're free to do that."
Spencer's comments suggest that developers may be able to use Scorpio's additional power to deliver more visually impressive games at a lower resolution, rather than be forced to render at native 4K.
What is even going on at Microsoft? This is a repeat of 2013 where they were all over the place with the messaging.
It would seem that they just don't learn. When I first saw a thread about that on another forum, I literally thought it was a claim being made by some stupid person on the internet who doesn't know what they're talking about, not a quote from the head of Xbox. When I learned "Scorpio won't do anything for you if you don't have a 4K TV" was an actual quote, I thought "please don't wait to buy an Xbox One! You should buy one right now! The Scorpio is only going to matter if you have a 4K TV!"
Sounds like the same sort of BS as "unless they have a huge television, nobody really benefits from 1080p resolution anyway."
This is the reason that Sony didn't talk about their new console at E3. To avoid this exact situation, where you have to undersell a future product so people will keep buying your current product. It's probably why they also officially commented about the Neo before E3, to try to get it out of the way, and out of people's minds. The good news is that the new Xbox One S is probably going to push a lot of hardware for MS, despite their continual foot-in-mouth messaging.
He mispoke. He's since clarified. It's better then Sony hiding information so people make uninformed purchasing decisions.
@zhoukewww: Amazon or newegg if you are in the states. Watch some youtube videos for a rundown of how to build a pc to make sure it's something you want to do. It's not hard, but it's a little intimidating.
Also, don't do raid 0 with SSDs. I did and it was a bad idea. You don't really get much noticable performance and it's hard to move if your mother board dies or something.
