Not as good as the last two episodes, but still pretty enjoyable.

Episode three didn't give me any gut-punches, because I felt I wasn't given much choice in the matter. I even restarted episode three (the one and only time I've done this in this game) to see if I could steer things the other way. Nope. All of my choices lead to the same character being murdered on the side of the road. Instead of a gut-punch "oh my god, what could I have done to help this", I just felt it was a piece of formulaic manipulation. More so than the obvious manipulations in the rest of the game.

It's really no different in this episode from that perspective (or hell, even any of the other episodes).

For example, right at the beginning when you're shooting the zombies off of Clem, at least one zombie remains invincible so they can't be killed and this is how they basically set it up so that Chuck dies no matter what you do. If anything, it's even worse in this than it was with Carley in Episode 3, because there it was completely out of your hands, whereas here you're given a gun to actually do something with but then are not allowed to because that's not what the writers wanted. That immediately breaks whatever illusion there is and disengages me from the game.

@Branthog: I believe Kenny only helps if you appeal to him saying that Clem is your only family. He agrees to join even if he says you were always against him at first. That's how it was for me anyway.

This episode just didn't do it for me, though. By far the weakest of the bunch yet. I didn't really have to think about any of the decisions I made, they were all relatively easy choices (and the statistics at the end of the episode show that, aside from killing the kid), and quite frankly it's pretty apparent that at this point whatever you choose to go with the story will still conclude in largely the same way for everyone. Lee getting bit didn't shock me much at all... I guess since I play as Lee I'm not exactly attached to his character as I am to the NPCs. After all it's the character that I play... and he's already died a few times during my playthrough in some pretty gruesome ways, so what's another death? It was also one of the possible endings that I was expecting for the series.

The scene with the kid's burial was mostly annoying to me. Maybe it's because I have a heart of stone, or just that I'm dead inside, but it felt like the game was going like "CAN'T YOU SEE HOW SAD THIS IS? SO SAD! SAAAAD! CRY NOW BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT SAD FEELS LIKE!". It all just felt a tad forced is what I'm saying.

Also, have to say, not a fan of how they handled Chuck. He was a pretty interesting character and I would have liked to see more of him instead of Ben/Christa/Kenny, though I suspect the thing with Ben will pay off somehow (and I'm hoping in a way that justifies how I kept giving him second chances).

On the plus side, this episode introduced some of the best characters so far. Really liked Molly. Very reminiscent of Daphne (Brea Grant) from Heroes, which is definitely not a bad thing at all. Vernon was cool as well as the woman that tagged along, who naturally ended up dead.

Anyway, still pretty enjoyable even if it does fall short compared to the second and third episodes.

Caudecus's Manor Story Mode runs are probably the best for farming XP and gold. You can easily get anywhere from 30-40 silver per run (more if you get a rare item to sell on the TP), and each run would take no more than 15-20 minutes. I've heard they've made this dungeon significantly tougher now in Story Mode, so I don't know if that is still the case.

It'll probably take up a good portion of my gaming time for the first couple of weeks at least. I don't see myself being obsessed with it in an unhealthy way though.

@Doctorchimp: No, the backplate is certainly unnecessary. First time I've even ever seen these sold as accessories to a card. I'd have assumed each card had its PCB reinforced enough on its own without the need to go and spend more money on stuff like this. I could understand the use of that if you're buying a particularly heavy aftermarket cooler (and even then, it's a bit of a stretch to actually need something of the sort), but otherwise no. And no, the stickers didn't melt down and mess the card up. They're paper stickers, aren't they? And even if they weren't, the back of the card isn't where the heat is emitted, so it should be fine either way.
