I've been seeing a lot of videos and news comments with users putting up "first" comments. Like, what the fuck does that suppose to mean? Who cares if your first!? I', pretty damn sure no one cares. And I doubt vry much that the giant bomb staff are going to care or for that matter give you something like a free game for putting something stupid like that.

Am I the only one that finds these thins annoying?

I know what you mean, but it gives some people something to live for. Do you really want a bunch of possible internet trolls to pester you about everything when they can just say "first"? The first is a safety mechanism so they don't learn to troll.

Yeah it is annoying but complaining about it just makes it happen more. If we just ignore it maybe it will stop some. Its just like being a troll, no reason to do it except to annoy people.

Just flag them as you see them. We're deleting those comments as we see them.

Yep, it really annoys me too. I'd ban the ass of anyone who did it if I had the power!!!! And then I'd hunt them down and beat them to death with a fish. And then I'd eat their fish smothered bodies for lunch!!!!

I think it's funny how you get suspended if you do it at The Escapist.  It always seemed pointless to me.  If it's the first comment, we know it's first.

I admit to doing it yesterday in the Bombcast comments... I didn't plan to do it, but the opportunity was there.  I'm not condoning it since it's a very spammy thing to do, but that's the internet for you.  But getting annoyed over them?  There's worse things to be pissed off about on forums.  First comments are the least of our worries I think.

And they deleted my first comment.  I should've edited it when I had the chance.

Its been happening for a very long time regardless of the topic of discussion or thing being viewed. I think anyone who does that is stupid as hell and a fucking child.

A lot of places delete tose posts or ban the users who do it repeatedly because it is nothing more than annoying, even troll comments have more worth as at least they are exhibiting an opinion.

Because when you post first, then everyone else will know of your dominance of that thread
