I got my first credit card through my bank when I opened my checking and savings accounts. It wasn't a very good one, had about a $500 limit, high apr, and an annual fee. But I used it for pretty much EVERYTHING, paying it off on time and in full every month. I was 18 and living with my folks at the time, so spending was low anyways. After a while I started getting credit card offers in the mail, as i'm sure we all do, and signed myself up for a decent capital one card (great bank btw). I think it started with a $1500 limit, apr never really mattered to me because I keep it payed off. Using that card the same way for years and hanging on to the old one, just to show an older credit line and higher available limit, I've been able to buy a house with my sister and a car on my own. In fact, when I bought the car they told me my credit score was 841! Not too shabby for a 25 year old, if I do say so myself.

So yes, I recommend getting yourself a credit card. Don't expect a good one right away, but remember that they'll raise your available credit as your score goes up, and apr means very little when you keep the card payed off...In full...Every month.

I also like carrying them because they're more secure than cash. Should the occasion arise where I get mugged or drop my wallet or something "Oh no! I'm down $5 cash and need to make a couple phone calls" lol

I hope that helps

I'm in it deep. I wore out my X52 a few years ago and am now rolling with a CH Fighterstick, Pro Throttle, Pro Peddles, and Track IR.

I'd say Italian since you have an Italian friend to help with it. Being one of the romance languages, it would also make Spanish and/or French a lot easier to learn in the future if you so choose.

@Sunjammer: Confidence is just a matter of time spent, and I have way more time in the shark than the hog. The hardest part is just learning to fly the damn thing, the systems are actually pretty easy. Personally, the A-10c has too many systems for my short attention span.

The shark on the other hand just has a big old TV and the ABRIS which work together nicely to make killing take as few steps as possible. It's as easy as Find, Mark, Lock, Laze, Shoot. Need to fire two shots in one go? No need for MFDs and profiles and all that nonsense, just flick a switch and launch :) I just wish it had the hogs fancy RWR.

The trimmer is kind of odd. You move the cyclic (control stick) to where you want it to be, tap the trim button, then center the cyclic and it should continue to act as it did in the previous position. I never really understood the flight director symbology, which made it quite useless to me lol. I never used it and don't feel like a worse fake pilot for it. I do have pedals, and highly recommend having some for general chopper flying, but a joystick with twist works just fine. Which reminds me, I think the trim button also effects rudder position same as cyclic.

Trim is better explained here.

Good luck, the shark is one of those things that will suddenly all make perfect sense out of nowhere (simpiphany?)

Well said. As much as I love and adore the A-10, I just find the Black Shark more fun. Helicopter tactics are more appealing, being able to hover safely behind a hill and get set up. Rather than a fixed wing where you're always moving, and therefore, on something of a time limit.

Also, the datalink stuff is WAY more intuitive.

Make sure you understand the TSA rules to make getting through security as painless as possible. Show up to your gate AT LEAST, I'm talking bare minimum here, a half hour prior to departure. Travel light, I'm going to PAX for all three days and only bringing a backpack with a few pants, shirts, and my phone. There's a solid chance you'll get more shirts when you're there. If your carry-on is too big, they'll just make you check it at the gate anyways. You'll also want some empty space to haul all your swag back home. I can't really help you with booking the flight as I always do it through Delta's employee site.
