I'm white, and my boyfriend is Hispanic,and my family absolutely loves him. When I first started dating him, I asked my parents if they would be OK with me dating a Hispanic guy, and they said it's perfectly fine as long as he's good to me and treats me with respect. That's all they asked of him. It's been 3 years now and things are great still.

I dated a mixed race girl once but other than that I don't really think I've gone outside of my race. Mostly because I can't stand the way minorities acted in the areas I grew up. Or maybe just youths in general, but the whole "ghetto" culture just annoys the living hell out of me. Maybe that's racist, but if while kids try and act the same it still pisses me off, so I don't see it that way. I feel the same way about "ghetto" kids as I do about freakin' hipsters. But that's a different topic entirely I suppose.

My family didn't care care, but I also wouldn't have cared if they did or not. She was a great girl, we had a good time together, and my family wasn't worth enough to give that up. They didn't want me to join the Marine Corps, they sure as hell don't want me going Infantry, and it doesn't matter to me.

I get if you're young, in high school or whatever, still living with your parents. It can be hard to do things like that when they so desperately hate the idea of it. I was lucky that the girl I was with was half and half, and my family was a bunch of damn hippy liberals.

But, if you're not living at home, or when you stop living at home, don't let them control your life. Your family isn't worth giving up what you want for. Especially if they act so selfishly. If they are stupid enough to care about race, just tell them they must also be stupid enough to give you up because you won't put up with their shit.

I hate to see anyone in a situation like this because of their family. We were supposed to get past race decades ago. I just hope you can be strong enough in the future that they don't stop you from being happy. Your happiness is more important than their bullshit.

One time I had a nightmare where I was dating a Mexican girl (that's not the scary part), and I went to meet her parents for dinner. The scary part is that they served Mexican food, which I pretty much hate, and I had to come up with some way to politely inform them that the food of their people sucks and makes me sick. I don't remember what happened after that, but I'm pretty sure it didn't go very well.

In real life I've only had like two real girlfriends, they were both white like me, but one was a quarter Hispanic, and one was an eighth Korean. My parents didn't seem to mind, though maybe it's just hard to tell when someone is 1/8th disappointed in you. Honestly though, if they did mind, I'd probably revel in their disapproval.

Like actual mexican food or the garbage parading as "mexican food" you see every day around these parts? For reference, I lived in Mexico and ate home-made mexican food and it was absolutely amazing every single time. It's hard for me to imagine someone not liking mexican cuisine :(

I don't think you understand how attraction works. Here's an example that totally breaks your logic. I'm not picky about gender, but some times that comes out in peculiar ways. For example, I rarely find black women attractive. Not because of the color of their skin, I just don't find them attractive. However, black guysI find extremely attractive. There's more to race than skin color (such as bone structure, hair type, and often culture) and just because you don't find them attractive doesn't mean you're being a racist. I prefer pale women, it doesn't mean I hate dark skinned people. It's just how my preferences lie.

So until you go around and get a boner every time you see any human being, you really need to back down and stop being such a judgmental individual. Or at least consider how attraction actually works in the real world.

There's a difference between being attracted to a certain look and just hating a whole group of people because of ignorant, cultural prejudices. Taking a taste and attraction and equating it to bigotry is ridiculous.

I dated a white girl in high school who's family was pretty hardcore Christian, and southern, and it was right after 9/11. Needless to say, they were quite angry that their daughter was falling for an Arab Muslim guy.

Edit: I can say personally I'm not attracted to some races. It's not bigotry, just chemistry. Same way blondes don't attract me nearly as much as dark hair or red heads.

Ive dated girls outside of my race before, the girl im with now is Spanish but i doubt that counts, her parents like me well enough but her mum is incredibly racist. The things that come out of her mouth sometimes make me cringe, i know shes part of an older generation and everything but i still find myself constantly shocked and suprised by her views on some of her asian neighbours down the road. My own parents have always encouraged me to date whoever i want, when i got "the talk" they effecitively told me to date anyone of any race/sex or religion as long as we where happy. Im thankfull i had such an upbringing and its something im trying to pass onto my stepson now, there are enough things wrong in the world without racism.

Race is a really odd word to use. My dad I from the Philippines, my mom from the mid west, so I (and my children) are not part of a "race" as you are using it.

If you really want to get technical you're wrong. Homo sapiens sapiens is not our race it's our species, more specifically our subspecies. Race is being used correctly. It's not a word introduced into our vocabulary by the media and politicians. It's been used that way by anthropologists for hundreds of years but they have been moving away from it of late.

I've not dated outside of my race, and it wouldn't be an issue if I decided to. Even if it had been, I would sooner give up my relationship with my family (we're really not that close) than bailing on someone I genuinely care for.

My wife's best friend from back in Texas (we live in Canada now) married a black man and half her family refused come to the wedding. It was probably one of the more horrible things I've witnessed. But those two are strong and a great couple!

Only once, and my family was totally cool with it. Her dad on the other hand, who just happened to be a retired NFL linebacker, was furious about his daughter dating a white guy. Luckily, the relationship never got serious enough for me to get my face punched off.

I'm a black man, and I find all races of women attractive. My family is pretty well mixed too, so I doubt they would care. I guess if I really thought about it, I lean more to black women than any other race, but that has to do with physical build, not any racist bullcrap.
