Whenever a company denies massive layoffs is it to save face, stockprices? Or just to not seem like heartless corporations? I guess no company wants to admit shit is getting real.

Perceived brand value going forward, perpetuating an image of a healthy company when negotiating with prospective new buyers, and yes, attempting to keep the company stock from bottoming out (which is although in this case irrelevant, as Onlive is not a publicly traded company).

Konami let a busted version of the game collection go gold and get out the door. Unfortunately not as rare as it should be. The release quality of a game should be higher regardless whether or not day zero patches are the status quo.

In the other corner you have what is basically Microsoft's taxation of game patches and DLC. The idea was allegedly one of quality control, yet I've only seen these policies do more harm than good. Instead of sticking to their guns that acted to discourage poorly developed titles, wouldn't it be better to allow these types of patches gratis of releases on their system, and therefore elevate the brand as a whole?

"Technical issues and resources", whichever company is more at fault, still doesn't serve the customers that fuel their business. Build a better product and for heaven's sake let those people improve their product easily! Maybe there really were unsolvable technical issues. My bet's on money.

A more nuanced perspective, apart from the majority of knee-jerk reactions here. Please understand that Konami made a vile move - but it's Microsoft facilitating said vile move with a conceptually sound but ultimately broken system. It doesn't make Konami's decision amy less problematic, but the blame should be placed accordingly.

Over/under on Phil Fish clearly not feeling the love, and taking his business elsewhere next time? Say Steam or perhaps OUYA.

(Oh who am I kidding, "next time" in Fish world will be 2038)

@GiantSuck

This is old news passed off as new content.

Speaking of content... this site is severely lacking in content

Look I'm reading about this, in the GB wiki and having Googled it, and I still don't understand the premise or mechanics behind this "game" or why it needs to be released.

And I'm even danish, what with Die Gute Fabrik being a danish developer inspired by a danish children's game!

This thing is going to be emulator city. And to all of the people whining about fragmentation of Android, I'll say this: There is no ethical duty to prevent fragmentation. If ICS seems like the best fit for these guys, it's there prerogative to use it.

This. This is an emulation fan's dream come true. And most everyone else here seems to massively misunderstand the project while being busy flinging hyperbolic shit - this device has nothing to do with running smartphone games on a big screen, Android fragmentation (hilariously unimportant) or the Google Play games catalogue. This is all about empowering the indie developers with a dev friendly and open system, and what I believe is actually a really interesting business model.

You could read up on the project before making silly nonsensical comments, just saying. Would make you look a bit less like a tool.

Don't worry about finishing Max Payne 3 if you haven't already.

This puts this story in a much more positive light, though.

I concur. Max Payne 3 was epically disappointing. Such retarded and game breaking changes to series amazing core mechanics.
