Well that's sort of true. You can't just port a game a year later with no extras. Bioshock was massively overrated and only got so much attention because it was a summer game and had a pretty good game to back it up.
You've heard it. Everyone loves to go around saying how bland graphics have become. All games are now are shades of grey.
But to me, this is really the first generation where I see tons of new graphical styles emerging. Last generation, you pretty much had two-- cartoony or realistic, cell shaded, and more abstract (viewtiful joe, okamI). But still, a realistic game looked pretty much all to one realm. Same with all the others for the most part, with some exceptions.
But look at this generation. Styles are starting to emerge, perhaps because the platforms have the ability to display them. Here's some examples of stylized graphics this gen.
Dark and Gloomy "Gritty"
Realistic
Clean Chamber 17
Gallery
Styled Reality
Cell Shaded
And some other notable misc. ones
So please guys, stop it. Stylization isn't dead. It's more prevalent this gen than any.
Will we here Valve has been bought out by Activision and will finally be pumping out a new Half Life game every year instead of every two?
Umm... call me crazy, but Valve hasn't really made a full Half Life game since 2004. The last episode was in 2007. Halo 3 came out the same time. Now a full sequel is already announced and about a year away. Half Life's next 5 hour episode hasn't even been announced. You know, a half life episode is actually very well suited to be yearly. I don't see why they couldn't. In fact, considering the fact that they're just reusing assets from 2004 still for the most part and its more or less the same exact gameplay, they should be able to make it in less than that.
ID has sort of gone from an awesome developer into a mediocre one really. Same has happened to 3D realms, although they're still pretty good, they just don't put out many games.
I doubt it'll matter much. No offense to bioware, I love their games, but it's not like they're really creative now. They really build greatness on the generic and expected.
Never had that, but I have become conscience of when I'm dreaming at times though.
My favorite dreams, and I've been remembering them recently due to the nature of a summer schedule, are the ones that I don't realize i'm sleeping yet have an adventure. For example, maybe a week ago or so, I had a dream I had something that was essentially a dimension hopper. Trick was that I had no control to which one I went to and I'd take over the body of myself in that dimension. It sounds like a sci-fi story, but experiencing it when you think it's real is quite scary and a bit panicy. Great dream though. I'd give it a 9.4.
When I was quite younger though, I had this recurring dream that I hated. Quite literally all I remember is that it was from a floating camera view point essentially, and I saw a slightly titled platform with a pyramid geometric shape moving towards another undefined shape. Abstract colors of pinks and purples.
I don't know why, but that scared me so bad. It wasn't even like a nightmare because even when I woke up I still was in huge fear and crying. Even at the time I knew I had no reason to be afraid and that the dream itself had no characteristics of a scary dream. That being said, it was almost like pure fear. I'm sort of having worried emotions writing about it now for some reason. It's weird.
* Typically i find that when your a kid, you'll have dreams about straight up scary thigns. When you get older, you have dreams about scarier situations. And while my dreams are of a fantasy nature, they're mostly based in a realistic world.
I live in Georgia. We have something called central air in every single house. It feels the same here as it does in winter. Granted though, I do miss going into a nice air conditioned room from the heat ):
But I could do the same here with my whole house if i wanted.
