Game Updates

Since I was last on Giantbomb (I've been busy with baseball and homework) I beat Gears of War 2, "beat" Fable 2, or at least the main story line, and got all but two of the acheivements on NCAA 09. Gear of War 2 is the GOTY without a doubt, feel free to argue that with me any time. Fable 2 gets my vote for the most time consuming game, and I mean that in the best way possible. NCAA 09 is just another college football game, not spectacular, but makes for lots of random gameplay.

GEARS OF WAR 2

  • Best game I have ever played.
  • I really like the cover-based tactics, the feel of controll over Marcus, and the in game weapons.
  • The visual aspect of the game was incredible, great cut scenes and large battle fields.
  • The story captured my attention sooo well, and had me near tears multiple times.
  • I AM ADDICTED TO CHAINSAWING PEOPLE
  • Horde is one of the best multiplayer features I have ever used.
  • Game overall made you feel like you were/are the shit

FABLE 2
  • Wide open gameplay both Saturday and Sunday of last week I sat down after dinner at around seven and played till twoish in the morning.
  • Semi-shallow plot, but it kept my attention.
  • Weak, Weak ending the final boss turns out to be the Great Shard not Lucien.
  • Morale choices are hidden very well and are tricky to make, including some were you must sacrifice you're EXP points to feed starving people.
  • Hannah, one of the heros, is very annoying.
  • A game I will end up playing more than any other just because its has so much in it.

NCAA 09, I just need the Stadium Sound Achievement and the Mr. February Acheivement, and then I 'll have "beaten" a sports game. Ball State 38-1 in three years dynasty, no big deal. Any way I hope to be on alot more for Christamas Break, much love, MURPH.

NFL Stock Exchange part 1 (AFC)

I felt like summing up the NFL so far. I ranked the teams on points, 50 meaning the team will definatly get to the Super Bowl.

AFC East

Buffalo Bills - With the Patriots down and most of the other teams in the division looking bad the Bills are looking like a solid pick to win the divison. One of the wild cards will be from the AFC Central, and the other will probably be from this divison. They need to beat San Diego at home to show everyone that they can beat a real team. 33 points

New England Patriots - The Pats stock fell the second Brady left the field. But like the Bills the Patriots benefit from a week diviison/schedule, icluding playing Seattle and Oakland in a row. I see them going 9-7, and they'll need to win Week 17 against the Bills to make the playoffs. 31.6 points

Miami Dolphins  -  They did beat the Patriots but aside from that they have been pretty mediocre. The issue for the Dolphins is Ronnie Brown, if he goes over 100 yards they win. But if they put the ball in Chad Pennington's hands they are doomed to lose. 18.9 points

New York Jets -  The jury is still out on the Farve trade, but the Jets don't look good but the don't look terrible. Their three wins are against Miami, on-and-off Arizona, and god-awful Cincinnati. This team will not make the playoffs. 20.6 points

AFC North
Indianapolis Colts -
The Colts looked alot better against the Ravens, Marvin Harrison showed he has something in the tank and Manning looked much better. The Colts are lucky that the Texans gave the Week 5 game away. Still the wildcard favorite and might win the divison, if Tennessee collapses. 35 points

Tennessee Titans - Last undefeated team in the NFL, and I don't know why. The only explanation is that Jeff Fischer is an amazing coach. They will probably win again this week against the Chiefs, but up to this point I can't think of a solid team that they have played. Real test against the Colts in two weels. 41.5 points

Houston Texans -  The Texans have thrown away multiple games this year and their only win came against the Dolphins. The Texans would be happy to end the season somewhere besides last place. 16.6 points

Jacksonville Jaguars - One of the most unstable teams in the NFL. To their credit they have had one of the hardest schedules in the league, maybe the the hardest. I see them pulling it together and taking advantage of three straight games against the Browns, Bengals, and Lions to get back into the divison race. 36.6 points

AFC West

San Diego Chargers - Still not sure about the Chargers, they lose to the Dolphins, and then beat the Patriots by 20. Lucky for them the Chiefs and Raiders are awful. I predict them to win the divison ...barely. 30 points

Denver Broncos - The Broncos look good right now, and they have a relatively easy schedule for the rest of the season. This will come down to the last game of the season, Chargers vs. Broncos, Its a really tight race. 30 points

Oakland Raiders - This team could be good, escept for one problem, Al Davis. They have many good young players and Lane Kiffin wasn't the problem. Russel and McFadden were two of the best players in college and I don;t believe that a team can't make these two offensive assets work. Good Potential. 22 points

Kansas City Chiefs - Saving the worst for last. This team completely fell of the road, they were once a team that was in the playoffs every year now they can barely beat anyone. 14.8 points

No games and the Election

So I just put all my money into a xbox 360 and haven't had enough money to buy a game. The only game I have right now is guitar hero 3, which I'm borrowing from my friend, I pretty much done with that. I'm up to cruising through hard and able to play most of Expert. I'm need to convince my dad to sign up for Gamefly cause I'm tired of paying $9 a rental when I could be paying roughly that for an entire month. So I'm pretty much stuck, luckly all of my TV shows have come back (The Office, My Name is Earl, 30 Rock). Even though Earl's writers have pretty much run out of ideas to stem off of the plot. I have 80+ dollars, but I need to buy a magazine subscription for my school's tuiton assistance thing and my parents are assholes and won't buy any.

As for the magazine subscriptions, I'm either going to buy Sports Illustrated or ESPN the Magazine cause I'm a huge sports fan. Sports Illustrated is a better magazine going away, but it is also more expensive, $40 compared to ESPN which is $20. If I buy Sports Illustrated I'm down to $40 dollars, ESPN and I'm down to $60. I'm looking at either Halo 3, Fallout 3, Gears 2, or NCAA 09. There are so many games coming out, its a really bad time to be the son of people who just decided to save every nickel they make into a retirement fund. Any way I'm just waiting on a little more cash so I can finally get my 360 going. I'm also a week from my xbox live expiring without getting any real time playing on it. On the bright side this will give me more time to get my grades back up.

Another thing that is getting a little old is the election. The candidates are both in desperation mode and running negative ads all over TV. Right now I'm not sure who I'm going with, its pretty much the lesser of two evils. I'm tired of the talk about Ayers, all his attacks were when Obama was a child, they are not good friends, and Obama denouces the guy's actions. I don't like Obama's health care and I don't like McCain in general. With the situation the country is in right now I don't know who would want to be president, who ever wins (Obama) will be set up for failure. The war is a trap no matter how you go about it half of America will be angry with you. The economy is a terrible by product of stupid loan regulations and banks lendin to people who will barely make 200,000 dollars in their life.

Thanks for reading, should get a video camera soon, so might have some video blogs. Wish me luck on finding games I'm still hoping for GameFly. Gotta go watch My Name is Earl, hopefully its better this week.

Joe BIden Quote of the Day

"When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened.'"
Thats from you're possible future VP. Too bad TV's didn't exist, and FDR wasn't president, other than that a spotless quote from Joseph James BIden.

Achievement Addict, Possible Games? Oh, and Blockbuster Sucks

Hey everybody, actually probably just Stephen, this is my first blog on here so I hope you like it. Okay so last Saturday I went to blockbuster to rent Call of Duty 4. Went into the store and the guy at the counter immediatly looks at me like I'm going to shoplift every game in the store. I go grab cod4 and walk to the counter and the guy said they were out of call of duty. Lucky for me a much better employee walked by and said that they had about 8 copies left. Good thing the first guy is soooo good at his job. I opened the case and the game was cracked in half. I went right back in and exchanged it for the disk that I have right now. This one worked fine until yesterday when I got to the final mission on Hardened and It froze. This is the third game that I've rented from blockbuster that hasn't worked well. I hate the employees there, I hate how they act like they are a movie/video game store even though the employees know nothing about either topic, and I hate the quality of their games. Why do I got there? Cause its close to my house and I'm lazy.

Right now I don't own any games. I just got my xbox about two weeks ago and only have a shitty cod4 (rented) and Guitar Hero 3 that I borrowed from my friend. I about to get two games in the next week or two, I just haven't really decided what to get for my second game. I know I getting Halo 3, but beyond that I'm not really sure. I've been trying to convince my brother to help me buy Fallout 3 but he says he's never heard of it. If anyone has any input on games just comment.

Last thing I want to talk about is getting my xbox 360 and the orgasmic feel of achievements. Anyone who has a xbox 360 knows what I mean. I will admit that I am an achievement addict, but I am not an achievement whore, I would never play Avatar. As an achievement addict I play games I would want to play if achievements didn't exist, but I go for achievements in the game. For example, I was playing call of duty 4 and I shot someone, but didn't kill them. Instead of just shooting them again I ran over and knifed them, to get the no rest for the weary achievement. On NCAA 08 I purposely threw to 5 different recievers and passed the whole game to get the record number of yards in a game achievement. Thanks for reading, I hope I didn't go to long.
